Hockey is a strategy game of Puck Possession and habs need to be better along the board and at the faceoff dot.

«The goals of this paper are as follows: to demonstrate that a set of states can adequately
describe the flow of a hockey game, so that the Markov transition property holds; to de-
termine whether the game can be modelled as a continuous time Markov process, and if
not, to determine what model will be appropriate; and to determine the (time-dependent)
probability of scoring or allowing a goal given that, at a particular moment, the game is in
a particular state. Given these probabilities, I analyze several strategic decisions common
to the game and determine their effectiveness in scoring or allowing goals.»

Markov here is the mathematical calculus of a Russian mathematician, not former Habs Andrei Markov tears of joy

So to speak I've tried to answer the need with Sturm and Carrier to build a new gen 4th line to complete RHP individual talent. The second scoring or checking game is a huge part of what separates deep playoff teams from 1st round-exit teams. If we want the Habs to compete, we need better support staff to fix our hole on the ice. Getting grittier and better at puck possession will offer more ice time in offensive or at least shorten rival team from puck possession in our d zone and offer more time to breath for our you d-men.

Adding up Rasmus Anderson might be impossible but if we can fetch him Matheson would gladly go miles around to offer the best offensive game of his life. Putting more pressure in the O-zone and again offering more puck possession, while also having one of the best stop gaps in the NHL to protect from Matheson turnovers.

I don’t see sharks making that deal, Sturm is an amazing depth C good defensively and on PK and top 10 in faceoffs plus he cost way less than Johansen and the prospects look to me a C grade and wouldn't even break into out top 15. Take out the sharks pick and the prospects and provide a better pick and I think that’s much more reasonable

I've taken out the pick and switched Harris to Kapanen. Is it closer for you guys?

Ras is likely our next captain and the most valuable defenceman on the team, it wouldn’t make sense to trade him for anything that isn’t a mind-boggling return.

That level of right shot D is extremely difficult to find and he isn’t going for a trade that involves the brutally awful contract of Ristolainen.

Is Ristolainen really a bad contract or is a player used unwisely?! I might be able to switch Pitts 2nd for habs 1st 2025 and add Luke Tuch to the deal. Do you wish to start a discussion on how we can come to a deal?

flyers laugh at both. non-zero chance the johansen contract gets terminated for failure to report (or he'd get stashed on ltir). org thinks they can get a 1st for risto with some level of retention, they are not trading him for a worse contract at a position they already have an abundance of

Anderson is a quality power forward and a player who can step up in Tortorella's system. He's not a bad contract. Risto for Anderson is also a great 1vs1 trade.

it's not a good trade for the flyers at all, they have less than zero use for anderson with their right winger situation (konecny, tippett, foerster, brink, atkinson, hathaway, etc.). rhd for them is a far greater need for them given it is drysdale, ristolainen and maybe attard under contract next year that they could use at nhl level

This looks much better and almost an overpay lol.
But Sturm is that guy no one thinks about till he is playing for you and then you love him! He’s one of those does all the little things to help you win kind of guys! But it’s getting wasted on the sharks right now

Faksa, Sturm, Blueger, Cizikias, Bjugstad, and Lundell are all centers that we can compare to Jordan Staal or Phillip Daneault for the 2 way and faceoff dot game.

As mentioned earlier, Flyers are already kinda stacked on RW with Konecny, Tippett, Foerster, Brink, Atkinson and Hathaway and have a bigger need for RD, as there is only Drysdale and Ristolainen, though Sanheim is playing right side also. If they want to get rid of Risto, they can just retain salary and get something more useful for them. Anderson doesn't really bring anything they already doesn't have.

What about Helge Grans? Anderson also plays both wings btw.

Foerster is already playing left because of the RW situation. And there is Farabee, Cates and Deslauriers also on left side and Laughton can play LW if they need. Still no need for Anderson.

Haven't seen Grans much but seems to be a bit raw still for NHL, might get chances if/when there is injuries.

I think they want some prospect/picks/center if they are gonna move Ristolainen.
