Don’t worry sharks pass! This draft outside top 3 is not close to 23 draft quality.

Zero chance. San Jose would ask for Guhle not Barron.

Unless the Habs are offering the #1 or (maybe) #2 pick, no way the Sharks do that.

Would you be interested in a trade down with your 2nd 1st and our 2nd 1st?

Sadly our 2nd 1st is likely to be a 25 1st because it’s top 10 protected

And if it wasn’t Carter Yakemchuk or Adam Jiricek would fill a huge need for the sharks.

Now I would be curious about discussing a trade for Mailoux

Let’s say the Pens 1st falls around 12-14iah range and the Oilers lands at let’s say 24, would do be interested in that trade down?

No, sharks need a RD and Yakemchuk and or Jiricek would be there at that spot, right now sharks have a top 5 prospect pool and are fairly deep but need higher end talent and after the top 15 this draft really falls off

I think our realistic options to pull that are DET, WSH, SEA, VGK, NYI, etc.

Teams who's prospect pools are starting to look a bit baren.

You're kidding right ?
No doubt 2023's top 5 was better hands down
Its top 10 doesnt touch 2024's depth though

Bedard was well ahead of Cellebrini with comparables being the distance between 1st OA picks Hughes and Hischier
After that I'd say #2-4 was more NHL read #5-6 was high end potential in a few years.

This year is chalk full of Dmen at a volume greater then the 2003 draft as they're in volume all the way through the 1st and 2nd rounds.
While there is less Will Smith's and Leo Carlsson's there is more Michkov's with high or higher upside that need more time based on the leagues their in or the weight they need to put on to turn Pro
This years Draft is one of the weird ones where its not got Overchkin's or Crosby's but will still go down as one of the deepest long term depsite at the time being called lack lusted like the 2003 Draft was at the time after Kovalchuk and Nash with Ovi and Crosby coming up next with Malkin and Fleury the 2003 draft was considered weak in terms of Quality in the moment
But most people agree it was one of the strongest and deepest in history

Cant count out the Xfactor that is this many defensman overachieving in their draft year.

Ok so now the question begs??? Why are you trying to trade up with the sharks then?
Your a hell of a salesman but in the end what sharks need are top end talent more than long term project, same with Montreal, long term projects with high upside are better suited for Tampa, Boston, type teams that can afford to wait 5 years on prospect and don’t need them now like both our teams do!

Smith leads the NCAA in points as a freshman, no chance San Jose moves him at all

This year's top 10 being better than last year's. There being plenty of Michkovs this draft, etc.

Given i used "Michkov's " as a Verb its an opinion statement using them as Metaphor or Eponymous Statement
For someone like you i should have had in Brackets (A High End player who isnt NHL ready )

I was stating that its less likely you'll have a repeat of Bedard, Carlsson , Fantilli and even Benson are all NHL Regulars
I think the only guy to jump straight to the NHL is Cellebrini but there's still a ton of Quality guys who will take time fall lower like Michkov

When you use someones name like that as an example its usually to make a statement
Not a proclamation that clones exist but i digress
I simply pointed out there are more Michkov's this year then last and there is all the way down to Tij Iginla there is Impact 1st round developmental players that are top 10 Quality going later
Die to no consensus on the top 10 D in the draft there's Levshunov, Silavyev, Parhek ,Dickinson ,Buium and Jiricek in the top 10 of various Analysts with Yakemchuk falling just outside top 10 in many.
Many of those same D fall outside the top 10 to in the 11-20th range. So either all the Analysts are Drunk or we have a deep draft full of options after Cellebrini

Its gonna be a chaotic year with lots of non NHL ready high end talent falling outside Top 10 largely due to there being no consensus really outside Cellebrini is #1
Im gonna enjoy the Chaos as it often leads to trades in a scramble to get players no one expected to fall that far

My Statements were of Fact with me stating the Cause and Effect that lead me to it.
If you disagree its your right but you cant get bent out of shape because i used a eponymous statement
I was just trying to create a contextual example someone could visualize

Why?
I've been told i over explain things and 3-4 huge paragraphs is too much(like the one im writing now)
This is my effort to slow dwindle it down over time
Its not meant to make someones OCD fly off the handle or offend anyone
I apologize if my eponymous statement upset you
