Would be crazy to see Crosby in another jersey. Maybe he'll be on a retirement tour next season.

He’s got way more than 1 season left in him, imho.

Zegras has a 3 year deal that ends as an RFA my guy.

Cost is extremely high, he’s loved in ANA by the locker room, coaches, and fans alike, and fits a desperate need as a scoring winger that has positional flexibility. I’d guess there are 3 players in this draft that Beek would even consider moving him for and that’s it. Celebrini, Lev, and Lindstrom. Even then, for the latter two I doubt he’d do it straight up, if at all

To begin with, the basic assumption is that Montreal's pick is 6, 7, 8 or 9. Montreal shouldn't be trading picks 1 through 5 and I can't see you dropping to 10 even if "other" teams win the two lotteries. And your esteemed colleague @Campabee has pointed out that if certain preferred prospects are still on the table at Montreal's pick, the Habs won't be trading it.

We would want a prospect like Owen Beck or Filip Mesar or Josh Roy in addition to the pick. Justin Barron isn't quite enough.

Much of this depends, of course, on what Zegras does when he comes back this season, and where we end up in the final selection order.

Crosby said as recently as yesterday after the trade that he's always said it's important to him to play his whole career with the Penguins and nothings changed about that

This summer, he’ll have two years left on his deal, plus one more RFA year. So, 3.

Yep, nothing’s changed about what he’s decided to say publicly.
And his desire to do this, is in direct conflict with his desire to have meaningful seasons at the end of his career.
My guess is the latter wins out.
I can’t possibly state enough what the experience would be like for him if he came here.
He would literally transform the entire culture of our province.
We have the young core in place to support him.
      It’s his childhood team.
      It’s the perfect fit.

Colorado would be before MTL. Sid has earned whatever he wants. Obviously if we were rebuilding it'd be more beneficial to the rebuild to get the absolute haul and the draft picks that Sid would bring (and for the receiving team youre selling out every single game at a 50% price increase) and if Sid wants to go then I know for a fact we would honor that. He's earned his say. If he wants to stay, stay. However, Sid has always said that it's important to him to only wear one jersey for his whole career. So idk. Outside of punditry and speculation I've never seen Sid say anything other than it's still important to him to retire a Penguin.

I dunno about Colorado. I mean, better team, sure. But if he wins there, vs. if brings cup number 25 to Montreal?

Number 87 in the rafters? Oh my god…

He definitely has had this cross his mind.

And I fully agree. That move would instantly make Geoff Molson millions upon millions of dollars in extra ticket revenue, ad revenue, beer revenue…

You're right. Crosby isn't Lebron he wouldn't just choose the best team. If colorado just because his best buddy Mackinnon is there lol he's very competitive of course playing playoff hockey is important to him but he wouldn't just solely be swayed by going on the best team. Continuing to speak hypothetically bc i don't think he's going anywhere but yes Montreal would be top of the list and if he brings a cup there hed be even more immortal, itd be something to see for sure...

I say Sid would pick a playofff team but one that never wins or hasn’t won in a while…get them over the hump…I think Boston is the best fit…Leafs could use him…but I don’t think it’s Montreal.

Gretzky went to big market teams and couldn’t win. If Sid goes to Montreal and wins? I think he takes over GOAT status.

Pure speculation on my part also, it wouldn’t surprise me if Price’s knee could handle one more playoff run. Cap hit doesn’t count in the playoffs.
