He would go for a 1st.... if he doesnt force his way to one team. This is the DeBrincat debacle all over again, in which Sens fans talk about the players general value, and other fans dont understand that WE KNOW IF HE FORCES HIS WAY TO ONE TEAM IT TANKS HIS VALUE.

I think it’s more as fans, we don’t really know how many teams are interested, or in Tarasenkos case, even available to acquire him. If he’s fine with 10+ teams to go to, Sens can probably get a 2nd and prospect (which is what I mostly saw in mock trades) but if it’s 1/2 teams only, it’s either sell for pennies on the dollar or keep him. Better to get something

Teams like Vegas, Carolina, NYR, EDM were all linked to him... Meaning each team must have done their due diligence and know he would waive to them

He still has to waive his NTC to go to that team. being linked means a team is interested and that there is a prospective fit, not that its open season on a trade offer. Vlad was always (and rightfully so) going to pick 1, maybe 2 teams he would accept a trade to as was his contractual right. He was doing his own due diligence on where he would have liked to go when he hired a new agent mid-season. Pretty simply he chose Florida when they emerged as suitors
