I don’t think this makes Verbeek want to move Zegras

Take this down now, the Jets just got rid of a perceived locker room issue player in Wheeler, don't need that clown show running a muck, especially giving up Barlow and picks for the injury prone overhyped band aid.... Yes, he would be fun for a bit and drive some crowds, but that will wear off fast when he disappears when the going gets tough...

The Ducks appreciate the very easy offer to decline. This convo would start with Rutger

Buddy, your comment is more off base than the trade offer, and the trade offer is bad to begin with, you should take this down first.

"Injury prone" No, Kirby Dach is injury prone, this is Zegras first season with any injury issues whatsoever, unlucky, sure, injury prone, no.

"Locker room cancer" on what grounds? The kid hypes up the locker room. He's got a big personality yeah but there's no evidence to support he is a cancer in any capacity.

"Over hyped" why, because we would demand full value for a guy who put up multiple 60+ point seasons on his ELC, do you understand how rare it is for a player to do that? The hype is real.

Is this a reason players don’t want to resign in Winnipeg????

Zegras is best buds with like half the locker room. I would absolutely love to hear where you get your intel 😂

Hellebuyck, Scheifele, Morrissey, Connor, Ehlers, Niederreiter...I absolutely hate when people bring up this narrative because it's simply not true...

Not saying this offer is very good but I think the convo ends with Rutger as well. I would say he's the only untouchable prospect WPG has.

I can absolutely understand that.

After Rutger, my guess is it’s Lambert and Barlow in WPG’s system. I just don’t think those guys are attractive enough to reel in Zegras. Verbeek passed on Lambert twice, he even took Gaucher instead of him in the mid-20s. Barlow seems like he hasn’t really progressed much this year. Doesn’t feel like he’s in the ballpark of being a primary piece for Z right now

I feel Gibson is more injury prone than Dach, and Zegras is worth like a top 10 pick but not a haul lmao, maybe something like 7th and 2nd with a B prospect. hes not worth more than Eichel. Dach also suffered a freak injury but if it fits your narrative lmao

My apologies, he's missed 7 games, then 1 and now 35 and counting this year, not quite injury prone, but still has some physical growing up to do.. I shouldn't say locker room cancer, that's pretty hefty too, but he does rub people the wrong way hence Verbeek's no nonsense approach for negotiations, and the fact he is still willing to deal him for the right return, after already dealing his boy Drysdale, so where there's smoke there's fire.. And I stand pat on the over hyped portion, if it weren't for a few michigan goals and Tiktok stuff he wouldn't be put on a pedestal where he's a "franchise player" and deserves a haul like this, he would be a Jordan Eberle type player when he was in Edmonton at the beginning of his career- nothing to scoff at career wise, but he's not the No 1 C you're going to win a cup with...

Every GM in the League is willing to take calls on every player he owns; to do otherwise would be GM malpractice. The fact that Verbeek quite properly is willing to entertain offers but unwilling to trade Zegras unless and until he gets the right return doesn't carry any inferences.

Nobody, least of all Anaheim management, thinks that Zegras is the #1 center of the future; in fact, it's pretty clear that the Ducks don't think he's the #2, either -- it looks pretty clear that Zegras will be moving to the wing from now on with Carlsson and McTavish at center (unless Celebrini lands in our lap!).

He’s 22, yes, he has some physical growing up still to go. Thats okay

Rub some people the wrong way? Sure. But zero evidence that’s people on his own team. And I personally love a player who gets under the other team’s skin. Couldn’t care less what other fans think, we love him here, as does his own locker room and coaching staff (see literally any comment on him from Cronin)

Lebrun already shut down the trade rumor nonsense. You can look up him talking about it after verifying with multiple insiders (something the original rumor lacked). The TLDR is that Verbeek has never phoned a GM about him nor even brought his name up in a single trade.

Nobody knows what led to the initial contract holdout, that all stayed behind closed doors so all we can do is guess, which doesn’t amount to much. Nylander held out way longer and look at him now, 2 deals later and spending what looks to be his entire career with the team

The phrase ‘over-hyped’ is frankly over-used. It’s irrelevant how hyped he is or isn’t. What he is, is a proven 60 point scorer at 21 and 22 playing center, with the ability to also play wing. He has a lot of growth to be had off-the-puck, but he’s clearly started to work on it with the new coach/system. Regardless of his hype, the value for that player is high, and wouldn’t be moved without a blue chip piece coming back, which this offer lacks. With WPG drafting late in the first, and their #2-3 prospects not blue chip, the conversation would likely have to be around Rutger, which I don’t see WPG pursuing.

Zegras just wouldn't want to be a Jet, Scheifele would clash with him, he's just not worth the hassle to a team that struggles at times to keep talent and attract free agents.
