I get your point but IDK why you'd keep Gudas over Marino, Marino is a solid top-4 defensman on a good long contract and hes only 26. Anaheim should be after people in that age group rn. Gudas does not fit your window at all at 33 y/o. Anaheim might not even make the playoffs before his contract is up and then he's 36 and likely to either retire or get pushed out to UFA by younger players. NJ needs a big hitter who blocks shots and can play more of a shutdown role to compensate for all their Offensive guys

That's probably a fair offer for Jarry (maybe a little light since Vitek has negative value) but there are two problems.
1.) The Pens are still not in full rebuild and can't go goalieless. Since Jarry is their starter and a top 5 guy in the league, they can't accept without going into a rebuild.

2.) "Fair trades" between division rivals don't happen. They generally need to be one-sided.

Due to both of these, you would have to blow Pit's doors off for them to accept. Think Jarry for Bahl and Nemec and a 1st (and Vitek of you must). That would be crazy for NJ to do. So the trade won't happen.

And we signed Radko for the reasons you’re trying to trade for him. Gudas has more value to us that Marino does. Gudas is a PERFECT stopgap while we wait for guys like Helleson Luneau Warren as well as a guy we very likely draft this year

Gudas has outdone what we thought we were getting from him as well. Everything from the leadership the steady hand for the youngsters he is paired with night in and night out. Those guys play their best when they have him out there

Trading Gudas just makes no sense at all

This is not a fair trade for Jarry. Jarry will definitely get a much better return than that if moved. The deal you mentioned would be the standard offer for Jarry.

The other thing I'd like to point out regarding Jarry is that there are no actual rumors that he's available, not even speculation and I'd say it's a real long-shot that he'd get moved in the next year.

This all stems from an article a Pens' hockey writer wrote simply musing that the Pens should consider moving Jarry. That's it, so there's no real substance to this.

Understandable but for one why would Pittsburgh trade him considering he’s playing well and was just resigned? Two, Markstrom has had a better career with the exception of last year’s mess. As Quick has shown us a goalie can be pushing 40 and still play at a high level.

Jarry being moved would scream rebuild and teams just don’t rebuild often now. Also, I see no reason for Pittsburgh to abandon Crosby just yet even though I’m sure they’ll move Guentzel.

Yeah, moving a starting goalie is a much bigger move than moving Jake. While Jake has been great, he's replaceable. Top starting goalies however? Much harder to find. Dubas has signaled that as long as the Pens' core is still here that he'll keep trying to compete. Now, could they move Jarry in a year or two? Sure, but it's not happening now. Ned will get moved most likely and that's about it.

Goalies traditionally don't get traded for that much. Granted, teams don't generally trade their #1 goalie unless he is old (and they have a younger replacement) or they are totally rebuilding.

The Pens don't fall into either of those camps so your point is well taken.

Markstrom has had a better career than who? Jarry?

5v5 WAR for the last 4 years and ranking among goalies with 30+ games (20 for this year and the shortened season)
Jarry:
2023: 2.29 (94th%)
2022: 0 (37th%)
2021: 0.67 (59th)
2020: -0.20 (49th%)
Total: 2.76

Markstrom:
2023: 1.83 (84th%)
2022: -1.20 (21st%)
2021: 1.76 (75th%)
2020: -0.80 (36th%)
Total: 1.59

They aren't far off but Jarry has been better.

Also it is rare for a goalie to play at a high level so late in their career. Quick and Fleury are exceptions, not the rule.

If you ignore what Markstrom in Vancouver you can paint that picture. If Jarry continues to look like he has this season he will be the better goalie. Time is on his side but you cherry picked some nice data.

So I wanted to give Markstrom a fair shake so I looked up his WAR 5v5 for the last 11 years. You won't like it.
2023: 1.83
2022: -1.15
2021: 1.73
2020: -0.80
2019: 0.29
2018: -0.18
2017: -0.25
2016: 0.25
2015: 0.30
2014: -0.19
2013: -1.58
Total WAR 5v5 from 2013 to 2023: 0.25

So I overestimated how good he was...

Gsax/60 with a large sample size and sv% are the only stats that matter with goalies really, maybe there are others that capture other things but those 2 give you the clearest picture of a goaltenders performance with GSAX\60 being the best
