They're trading 2 firsts for a 3rd liner. They need top6 talent, not another 3rd liner.

You can’t get caught up in what was spent on acquiring the players. Jenner is by far worth more than that. The Jackets aren’t trading him but it would definitely be more than that.

This wasn't just trade posturing, it's been different. Davidson, ownership, and Jenner himself have all explicitly stated that he doesn't want to move/they don't want to move him. This isn't like Calgary's "will they won't they", when we all know they'll sell. This is a team in turmoil that knows they have a hot commodity and just wants to kill the noise.

Jenner the player is worth a 1st and Lysell (he'd immediately be Boston's 2C). Jenner the center on a cheap deal in this market, with the entire organization saying they won't move him, would fetch even more. You'd have to force Columbus' hand to pry him loose, in a "can't say no or I'd lose my job" decision for Davidson. That's more in the range of two 1sts, Lysell, and Beecher, plus.

Good for Columbus. I wouldn't trust any executive trading a 1st or more for Boone Jenner to lead my organization.
