Jiricek is a young, 6OA d+2, NHL D-man now with serious 1RD potential...and the only one of those we have. There's maybe one or two prospects like that in this year's draft, and they'll certainly be gone in the top 10 (potentially in the top 5).
Unless we're getting a 1RD or top-5 pick back (since there's no guarantee we'd be able to replace him even with a top-10 pick, and that player is still 2+ years away from the NHL), it makes far more sense to keep the guy we already have who's under contract for 2 more years and under team control for at least 5 more.
I'll say it 'till I'm blue: Based on that, I don't think the Leafs even have the pieces to land Jiricek, period. Unless they go nuts and decide to move Matthews (and Jiricek is a part of that deal).
Jenner simply isn't available at this time, but if he were, I'd take Minten, the 2024 1st, and the 2024 NYI 3rd.
