Johnson can definitely be had, but if the Leafs want him they would need to give up something the Hawks would want. A 5’9” injury prone player on an expiring contract is not that.

I'm sure Chicago would prefer picks but swapping a 5'8" injury prone pending UFA for a 5'9" 22 year old injury prone pending RFA isn't the worst option.

Robertson has been in the doghouse but his points per 60 is quite high and if given time to develop, like in Chicago, he could be a solid middle six scorer on a controlled deal.

Drop McMann and Timmins, add Robertson, and the Caps accept. Caps would add NAK (50%) retention if you're still looking for fourth line defensively responsible forwards.

Yeah, net gain is zero. So it would be making a deal just to make a deal for the Hawks. Leafs would be gaining playoff experience/winning know how.

I’m not saying it’s not in the realm of possibilities, but based how how many injury problems the Hawks had this year doubt they would be terribly excited to bring in another injury prone player. Also there will be more & more prospects needing ice time to develop in the upcoming season. I just don’t see any appeal in him.

Chicago could also swap him for a 3rd to another team. It could be the best way to maximize trade value if no other team is willing to pay a 3rd for TJ.

He's in the doghouse because Keefe has no idea on how to develop young players. Also Robertson and Domi need a puck retrieval go to the net winger. Jarnkrok gives everything he has but doesn't fit that role. Robertson for sure has a way better than average shot and Domi is a great passer but neither of them win the corner battles and can't cause havoc in front of the net.

I don't see the Hawks having much interest in another undersized F. But it's not a bad idea otherwise.

I think CHI considers that. It isn't a bad bet considering CHI probably won't be re-signing TJ. Plus, it gives him a chance to go play some meaningful games.

I think the Hawks would accept, it’s a low cost risk on a player who maybe has an upside not yet reached. Odds in my opinion are higher that Robertson turns into a regular NHL contributor then the 3rd round pick you may get for trading TJ’s expiring contract.

Dallas needs an upgrade on D. Brodie isn’t that which is exactly why you’re trying to unload him

Brodie is not a first pair D, which he is asking to be in Toronto. On a second pair, with someone else responsible like Lindell, he would be a solid #4.
I moved him in this to make room for the other adds and to try and recoup some value from him.

NAK had his chance with Toronto and did not go well. Could swap McMann for another cost controlled player like Abruzzese
