New Jersey is not going to move Holtz for two pending UFAs and a mid 1st. Also that first is mid since Detroit is not close.
Rangers are trying to wing now, although I think Berggren should be in the NHL right now, they won't think this trade makes them better.
Minnesota likely keeps Middleton since he is on a cheap contract. The package isn't worth it for them to downgrade.

This is pretty bad.

Berggren, if playing a full NHL season, is probably at least as good as Holtz points-wise, and you've traded away multiple pieces and picks for a 6 point winger.

I like Kakko but not at that ridiculous price.

If Sprong is being traded this year (which he probably won't be) the Wings should be the party receiving the 1st.

The Rangers have a lot of solid wing prospects, what they’re missing is a top-six RW for the playoffs this year. Berggren may or may not be an upgrade on Kakko offensively, but his defensive metrics are not nearly as good and he lacks Kakko’s size and puck protection capabilities. Aston-Reese and Söderblom don’t provide much value to the Rangers’ depth or Farm.

Detroit passes, If we make the playoffs then Perron and Sprong are absolutely not going anywhere.

And Detroit doesn't need LHD unless it's highend like Chychrun or Hanifin.

Detroit has Perron, Fabbri, Fischer, Kostin and Sprong and on the back end they have Maatta, Holl, Petry, Chariot and Ghost. They all have an uncertain future with the Wings. Yzerman has chosen to let Berggren and Edvinsson over ripen and continue to develop with their future teammates.

New York would bring up Berggren right away and he would easily produce more than Kakko. There is no reason to keep him in the Rangers farm system.

I get the targets like kakko and holtz I just don't think these deals are what the teams would want.

I get that about Berggren. I was more stating that the fans won't think this trade makes them better. Personally I hope we sell and give Berggren and Edvinsson some time in the NHL. I don't know how long we can ride Lyon's back for.

Perron and Sprong would be two good additions for any team at deadline, but doesn’t fill a need for NJD and Holtz looks like a keeper.

I think we do sell playoffs or not and with the way they have played Edvinsson and Berggren make the team out of camp. Danielson and Kasper have a good chance as well.

I agree. Too many UFAs and not enough prospects anymore as some aren't working out. Berggren and Edvinsson need to be on the team next year no matter what. I would also like to see Danielson. Kasper might take another season of seasoning. Mazur could make it. Soderblom I think another year. Big guys like him take some extra time to develop.

I think Danielson could play in the NHL now. He's solid defensively sound he has the size and strength. His biggest con is production but he has an excellent release being around guys like Larkin and Debrincat that could change. Much like Tage Thompson Soderblom has to get stronger for his style of play to be effective and to add strength correctly it takes time. Plus he was a 6th round pick so there is no reason to trade him just yet.
