That’d be an overpay. A first I can sort of understand but I think more of a 2nd. Retaining would be goofy realistically. Teams don’t just retain money on players with term on contracts.

Disagree... Rakell is a mid player on a terrible contract.

Mid players don’t put up 14 points in their last 17 games played returning from an injury.

Keep him then... he's not as good as Debrusk and older. Bruins have no motivation to move Debrusk for Rakell.

3 year age difference. He can put up more offence than DeBrusk. Defensively not as good as DeBrusk. It’d be a trade that could work well for both sides. That’s the only trade I’d look for when moving Rakell

Negligible difference in terms of offensive production... Debrusk is the better goal scorer IMO. Debrusk plays in all situations PP, PK, etc. and like you said better defensively. I don't see how the Bruins benefit from doing a 1:1 trade for Rakell especially considering Debrusk is younger and I trust his production more going forward.
