<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hawksguy81</b></div><div>This roster leaves the B's plenty of cap space to buy Reilly out. Hawks decline.</div></div>
why buy him out if they can find a trade partner? buyout will hit their cap this year and next versus trading him. they may have to retain some salary depending on the destination.

I would think Boston probably says yes to this, moves out a lot of cap space.. not sure they want Couture for the remainder of the contract and also Coyle probably says no but there may be 8 other teams he'd block fist. why does SJ want to move Couture?

Avs have the cap space depending on if they choose to resign people or not. they seem to have a lot of pending UFA for the 2023/24 season and could likely use an established guy like Coyle for the middle 6.

the idea was retain this year so you don't have his buyout against the cap the following season. his buyout would be like an 800K hit this year then over a million the following season. so if you retain 1M it's only 200K more than a buyout but you don't have to worry about the following season.

could see them rotate guys depending on the opponent. both gryz and cliffton have value but clifton seems to take the physicalty better. but gryz shoulder should be in better shape this year so i could see monty making some adjustments as the rounds go on.

id like orlove for 5x5 and bertuzzi for 5x5 as well but other couch gms (like myself) told me that was a pipe dream so i moved them both a bit.

might see them move little Z for a guy like Bujstad but I agree, other than moving reilly i don't see them trying to make moves unless some calls with a too good to be true deal.

Next Year
they'll need to move Hall or Coyle and Gryz or Forbot and Reilly to accommodate the bonus overages. not to mention you need to have a spare F and D man on the roster. i don't see them bringing Nosek back at all especially for that when you can use a guy like Beecher or use Lauko on the wing and Freddy as the Center.

I'm not, ARZ was sending thie 5th round pick. they could likely use Reilly next season if they move Chyrun and Ghost moves on. also the 3M will help them with getting to the cap floor.

Also, on the Bergeron deal....
Delusional but I mean good to be hopeful I guess.</div></div>
because he gets 50% games played still so it's a 1A 1B situation. that's not going to change even if he's the "starter" and he has a good relationship with Ully and knows his contract is going to be done in 2 years.

TDL Splash-Philly
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DefenseFirst</b></div><div>So we’re saying he’s a winger, and one that is not suited for a 4th line role, right?
When healthy the bruins right side is debrusk, pastrnak, and Fredric. All worlds better than jvr. All cheaper too, but really were just talking about frederic, who is $2.5m less than a 50% retained JVR. Left side is Marchand, zacha, and hall. All worlds better than JVR.
So what’s better than JVR? Not doing anything. If we’re talking about a 13th forward, there are better options.</div></div>
one of the weak spots in the Bs depth is a finisher on the 3rd line. Freddy does well but would also be a good addition to the 4th and make greer the extra forward (assuming Smith gets moved) so JVR could add a scoring touch to the Hall Coyle line as they seem to be sputtering offensively.

23-24 moves for the sake of it
I like the jets as a fit for Hall or Coyle this offseason. the Bs would be wise to move one of those two guys to make space as the bonus overages are going to hurt them next year. the NMC in Hall's case just means he can't be sent to the AHL and currently a NTC that has a 16 team no trade list that changes to 10 team no trade in the 2023-2024 season. Not sure if the Jets are interested in a 2nd/3rd line center in Coyle if PLD moves on.

I think the better play is to try to create a bit of cap space this year, to reduce that bonus overage and avoid trading forbort.</div></div>
agreed. i'm hoping Pasta comes in at 11M per season. if they can manage to move reilly or smith now that would be ideal and cover most of the bonuses this season.

the idea is now he doesn't have another year of term so ANA could flip him at the TDL if they wanted and they also get a B level prospect in Steen for taking Reilly.

maybe bos retains a bit and then CHI can flip him march 3rd at the actual deadline for another asset. not laughable at all if Chi is interested in getting as many picks as possible.

Cliffy is going to price himself out of Boston after this season and Bear is RFA so can come back on a reasonable deal.
