Description
Assumption and context:
- Assume that CHI was one of the teams that was interested in Xhekaj and offered a 1st. The context being that they sought out Xhekaj's talent and intimidation to mitigate the risk of players taking liberties on Bedard.
- MTL initially declined b/c they wanted to assure that the TB pick was btw 17 - 21
- Assume TB makes the playoffs as a wildcard and is eliminated in the 1st round.
- Context to the LA trade is based on LA not resigning Talbot and seeks out a #1 goalie in the offseason. Allen would provide insurance for thier hopes to reach the playoffs again.

As a Habs fan, get ready for some abuse fro Chicago fans.
And I think L.A. declines as well, although Turcotte's stock is sliding quick.

Appreciate. Given MTL's need for improved offense. Who do you think management should try to target in the offseason?

Hawks are loaded at LHD with young players and prospects, not a chance we spend a 1st rounder on another one, we are probably going to move 1 or 2 to free up the logjam this summer or next TDL.

No thanks on the Turcotte trade

I’d rather package that 1st up with more and trade for Kent Johnson.

WIN 1st + CGY 1st + Mesar + Barron for Johnson

The source for the rumor that CHI, or anyone, offered a 1st for that guy is "people on the internet made it up."

Let's see if he can avoid the AHL for one whole season before you decide he's a hot commodity around the league.

Johnson would be an excellent target. I see that offer comparable to the Eichel trade. It would be a steep price to pay. Wonder if Huges is willing to be that aggressive?

Fair point. What are your thoughts on how goes about adding more grit and toughness to the line up for Bedard's protection?

I think it’s time to be more aggressive
Draft Demidov and trade for Johnson and the top 6 is set

Slafkovsky - Suzuki - Caufield
Johnson - Dach - Demidov
Newhook - Beck - Roy

Talk about overpaying for your WIFI, Hawks will seek a more affordable internet connection.

Seriously though, as others have said it is hard to believe the Habs can get a 1st round pick for a part-time NHLer.

CHI doesn't need grit and toughness. We have some big strong guys that will throw down and throw the body when needed. That isn't an issue. The broken jaw was a freak accident. Smith isn't a goon, it was a clean open ice check and Bedsy, being a small guy, went straight into his shoulder with his jaw. I like guys who go to the middle, but Bedsy needs to be more particular about when and where he does that. He has put himself in dangerous situations multiple times doing it.

LHD is the last thing CHI needs, and even if they did want to add a tough guy like him, they definitely wouldn't pay a 1st for him. That being said, nothing would surprise me when it comes to Kent Hughes negotiating trades. That guy seems like he can smooth talk anyone into anything. Getting a 1st to take Monahan and another 1st to trade him away is masterful salesmanship. And he supposedly almost had someone pay a 1st for Anderson last year, which is lunacy, IMO. You'd have to pay me a hefty sum to take that contract.

Los Angeles isn't trading Turcotte right now, whose stock is rising, and Columbus isn't trading Johnson.
