2024 Deadline

Description
Tried to recreate an aggregate of former trades involving centers with 2-3C production (Copp, O'Reilly and Barbashev.) Monahan has the injury history so I believe he will end up in conditional status similar to Copp based on games played and how far they make it. I think WPG is the best fit IMO.

For Pearson it was simply about finding him a home. I like making connections with former coaches and maybe Travis Green will put in a good word

Would have liked to move Savard but I think this is a summer thing. Potential for moving Kovacevic as a depth D but couldn't find the right fit at the moment as we still need bodies who can block shots and be a little more aggressive.

Really not sure where Allen should go or what the return would be (a lot of backups have hit waivers so really just a change of scenery for a player with a connection to your group.)

Far too much for Monahan from Winnipeg. Monahan isn't breaking into Winnipeg's top 9, he simply doesn't have that value to the Jets.

Think you can take the Canes off your Allen speed dial now. Freddie on the mend, Pyotr back, Raanta and Martin capable 3/4

Remove the 2024 2nd and I'd do it. Conditional that Monahan plays 50% of playoff games and jets win a round.

Monahan could get us waayyy better that that, i think wpg could be an interesting trade partner, but not for that (Barron probably also not on the moove)

Allen is gonna be dealt, not to Carolina, they dont need him, Anderson's gonna come back, they have raanta and Kotch (and Allen is gonna get more than just that)

Pearson is probably worth more than just a 5th, but again the injury he got early doesnt help

Fair enough. Wasn't sure where he'd go (maybe LAK) makes more sense.

Fair enough. Maybe the Allen one was off base. I'm just trying to find some common ground. This site and just generally people flip when you suggest Monahan can go for a 1st +. Supply and demand and history speaks for itself he will but I was trying to get to the middle.

Thanks for the civil reply. He will get something close to what I suggested. History and supply and demand suggests so. Perhaps it's not Winnipeg but I think he's a perfect fit there.

A 2025 2nd and Barron is the most I'd give for Monahan, like Howie I'd probably want to attach a minor condition or two on said trade, if that's an issue then thats okay, would just move on as I wouldn't want to invest too much into a Jets team that has issues even if their record would say otherwise.

Appreciate the civil reply. I understand your POV based on your last point. I'm interested to see divisional and inter conference reactions post Lindholm off the board.

Why not? He would be an upgrade over the 3 you have. Plus you can get him for almost nothing. He is currently putting up better numbers and plays for a much worse team

Will be interesting to see how the other Western Conference contenders react to Van winning the Lindholm sweepstakes.
The Jets just can't get into some kind or arms race or pissing match when they're on 99.9999% of no trade lists and not a destination for free agents.

As a Jets fan I look at their defense and question if they can go all the way with what they've got back there so adding Monahan or whoever might be a futile effort when their defense just doesn't measure up.
Also their forward group is good but Idk if its really one that's built for playoff hockey, lots of slight, smaller guys that play similar styles.

We'll see how it goes but with that many issues Idk if just adding one piece like Monahan is enough and then the question for me is why bother at all, theres always next year... 🤣

He's not an upgrade on Freddie, he's not been an upgrade on Raanta since Raanta remembered he's an NHL goalie (4.63 GSAx, 915 sv% since coming back up from the minors). Plus, it would completely overpopulated the crease

You seem like a guy who is part of the "I hate every canadien fan/player" but I'm telling you he would be a boost to that team in the crease at a very low price. A goalie would have to go the other way obviously. Nonetheless if they don't trade for a goalie they don't have a chance to win the cup.

They'd have a better chance of a cup with Pyotr and Freddy than with Jake Allen

He's not good. Freddie being cleared to return means the Canes aren't in the market for a goalie. Keep Allen if you think he's good, good for you! I have nothing against him, but the Canes have a crowded crease already without adding fuel to that fire

The habs are not in a place to win right now otherwise they would keep him over Primeau. I did mention you would probably need to send a goalie back lol. Canes are going to waste another year and good team if they don't upgrade in the crease. Thats not debatable.

It's wrong, not debatable. Carolina's goaltending was the reason they got to the eastern conference finals last year. With Freddie back, they're going to be fine. He was cleared to return to the ice yesterday, so the Canes do not need a goalie. They're going to be right there in that conversation again with the current roster anyway

MTL doesnt need Barron or more draft picks. They need either a quality prospect or a 1st for Monahan
