  1. Zegras, Trevor
Détails additionnels:
Coming into the 2024 draft, ANA has a top 4 pick and choose to go with a forward (Eiserman/Demidov/Lindstrom). They need a future top pairing RHD and they already have too many offensive dman. They choose to use Zegras to get that future RHD who fits what they need. David Reinbacher can move the puck well, big physical dman good defensively. Good hockey IQ as well, would form an excellent duo with Mintyukov. ANA get extra assets because Zegras is proven while Reinbacher hasn't played a NHL game yet. They get a 2nd in 2025 (lost their own pick in the Cutter Gauthier deal) and Sean Farrell (B prospect). IMO Sean Farrell is a better prospect than Brayden Tracey & Blake McLaughlin
ANA
  1. Farrell, Sean
  2. Reinbacher, David
  3. Choix de 2e ronde en 2025 (PIT)
Détails additionnels:
MTL comes into the draft with a top 6 pick and Artyom Levshunov is still on the board when they pick. They call ANA with the trade proposed above if they are welling to move Zegras for David Reinbacher BECAUSE MTL have a lot of puck moving dman but only two with true offensive upside (Hutson & Mailloux). Adding a more offensive RHD like Levshunov to be paired up with Guhle on the top pairing make sense from a Habs perspective. Overall, MTL get Zegras & Levshunov but loses Reinbacher, Farrell & a 2nd round pick. ANA get Gauthier, Reinbacher, one of (Eiserman/Demidov/Lindstrom) Farrell and a 2025 2nd round pick. They lost Zegras & Drysdale in the process

An actually reasonable scenario from a Habs fan that benefits both teams. Bravo!

Lev is going top 2, MTL needs Reinbacher way more than Zegras. Even if we could get Lev, I honestly rather have Rein+Eiserman than Lev+Zegras

It's always dangerous to trade a young buck before we get a chance to see what he is actually capable to do...

I don't think the habs have the core necessary to compete... let the rebuild do it's job before getting Zegras.

Although I think the offer is fair and well thought out.

Fair enough but would rather keep the defenseman for once.
We were burned on McDonaugh and Sergachev. Let's keep this one.
If they want our 1st to draft their own guy this year, we can talk. I'd prefer to make the pick for a forward if we are high enough.

out of sheer principle, habs should never again trade a first round RHD before he has a chance to settle into the NHL, Would love to add Zegras but the potential of what you are giving up here t land a one way dimensional forward just too big of a red flag to pull the trigger on, although the price tag is probably pretty bang on.

This is the kind of trade that leaves the franchise where it been stuck for decades, seeking a quick fix. You don’t win a cup with this thinking.

Unfortunately that doesn’t benefit us. We need Reinbacher who is too important a piece of this rebuild.

But I've been assured by many Habs fans on multiple occasions that Justin Barron is your next #1 RhD!

Well that’s foolish! He is a fine young defenceman but he is not a Reinbacher. Players like Reinacher are hard to find. You don’t trade them when you have them.

Honestly, if I'm Montreal I'd way rather have Zegras + Levshunov than Reinbacher + Eiserman. Levshunov is a better prospect than Reinbacher at the same age IMO and Zegras is a better sytlistic and timeline fit than Eiserman (even though I think Eiserman has a real chance of being the better player long term)

Prime Eiserman should be miles better than prime Zegras. On the D side of things, we have Lev with a higher offensive upside but Reinbacher will have the higher defensive upside. I rather Lev, but they are quite close, imo, much closer than Zegras will be to Eiserman

You know outside of his shot Eiserman is bad at everything ?
