On the other hand they have less than $2M in cap space but for some reasons they are going to do this trade? Come on now why in the world would COL trade one of their only centers and 3 draft picks to net $1.5M in cap space it makes no sense.</div></div>
I thought RyJo had a second year left, which is why I did that trade. I’d agree it makes no sense after I learned it was a single season.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>oilersguy</b></div><div>What a night, Oilers set a Canadian franchise win streak record on hockey day in Canada with a gritty hard-fought win in a BOA in those nice HC jerseys with papa Oiler scoring the gwg and without a point from 97 or 29, and Holloway had three points in his first game back. And Skinner ties Fuhr's record with 10 straight wins. Plus the Condors beat the Wranglers 7-3
if you had told me in November that the Oilers would have 13 straight and have 21 wins in 24 games i would have told you stfu. I never had doubt that they weren't going to turn it around and get back in a playoff spot but never like this</div></div>
It’s amazing that no Habs team ever won more than 12 in a row. Oilers look amazing.

3 Way Trade for Zegras
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Shanesaw9</b></div><div>Anaheim doesn't want Campbell. No one wants Campbell, but in this hypothetical 3-way trade it would be necessary to make the cap work for Edmonton. Edmonton would have to compensate MTL (and in turn ANA) for this, as I said in the description I'm not sure what that value is.
Why is Zegras a fit with BOS, DET, NYR but not MTL? MTL needs scoring more than any of those teams.
I disagree that it would take another 2 1sts... Holloway and 3 1sts to dump Campbell? Let's get real...
Regardless, if you read the description:
"If I'm off on the cost to dump Campbell add it into the return for Matheson which is flipped for Zegras."
"If I'm off on the cost to dump Campbell add it into the return for Matheson which is flipped for Zegras."</div></div>
He fits those teams because they are either cup contenders or further along in the rebuild like Detroit is. We are no where near ready to be sending 1st rounder out the door.

Why does Anaheim want Campbell? Why are we moving 1sts out the door? Zegras fits with Boston, NYR, or even Detroit but not Montreal.

Semi serious Zegras trade
I’m sorry but Zegras trades to Montreal are just not smart for us. This one isn’t bad value wise but the whole idea of adding him is based on the hurry up and be impatient thinking that’s left us stuck for decades in limbo.

Unfortunately that doesn’t benefit us. We need Reinbacher who is too important a piece of this rebuild.

This is the kind of trade that leaves the franchise where it been stuck for decades, seeking a quick fix. You don’t win a cup with this thinking.

My guess is a 2nd plus a prospect or maybe a 1st that’s conditional. Many of our fans are very impatient with rebuilds, which is why the team has not done a proper one for some time.

A guy who scored 31 goals last time he played a season on a good team should be worth around the 30th pick in the draft. That’s a fair price. Hertl’s contract is not bad when you look at it in a few years with a cap at 90 plus million.

Do you play them in the NHL, or do you keep them as far away from this diseased cesspool as you can and play them in the AHL, to maximize their development?</div></div>
That’s a great question you asked and I’d be curious to see his response as a Hawks fan because outside of Bedard it’s usual the safe thing to let young players either go back to juniors or play in the AHL. The Habs have been doing it right with our rebuild so far. Pushing a player into too many NHL games when they’re not ready leads you to a Lafrenière situation.

Faksa and Marchment are not valuable, so that’s over 7 million in dead money that’s going out the door. Hertl is valuable and is certainly worth a 1st. What else they’d get is up for debate and it may very well be lower than what I proposed but he would be worth a 1st easily. Karlsson even got a 1st with a long injury history and a bad contract. Hertl’s contract isn’t so bad given it’s long term with a rising cap coming.

Duclair scored 31 goals the last time he played a full season on a good team. That’s easily worth a late 1st to a team trying to win a cup. And Arvidsson is going to miss most of this season after back surgery.
