Neither Montreal player holds any value to the Jets and all 3 pieces coming from Winnipeg on their own hold more value than both Montreal pieces put together.

Kovacevic is underrated, makes less than league minimum for this season plus one more. 6'5", decent skater, decent with the puck and pretty reliable defensively.

3rd and 4th round picks usually don't even make the NHL. If he had a bad contract I could see your point but he doesn't and he'd make a great depth defenseman on a contending team that needs a RHD. That said I doubt he's a fit for Vancouver they already added Zadorov.

Dallas would be the best fit for him, although personally I would just keep him if I was MTL and try to extend him unless you get more than a late 2nd round pick out of it.

Matheson is worth more to Montreal (and most teams) than a late 1st and Barlow. He's been a top 10 defenceman on a bottom feeding team with 64 points in 90 career MTL games, 233 SOG, 25PPP and only a -2 on a horrific goal differentil team playing 25+ mins on average in every situation vs teams top lines and top PK with David Savard.

They aint taking a cap dump and dumping the top center rental at the TDL as well for nada. Bad opinion from the comfort of your couch in Winterpeg.

Good for Matheson. You guys can keep him then, cause he isn’t worth 2 1st round picks. The valuations are way off, besides, neither Matheson or Monahan are upgrades on what Winnipeg already has.
We are already near top of the league in defensive metrics and I would really only want to target a T4RHD who fits that mold and a T6 defensive C who would slot into a 2C role on a contender, and Monahan ain’t that!
