Description
Assume the standings stay as they are, so the Habs get 8th and the Flames have pick 10

I would then select Eiserman or Demidov with pick 8 and Parekh with pick 10

Using the 2022 draft trade between Arizona and the Sharks

Ari gave up picks 27, 34 and 45 for pick 11

I believe the value here is much more to take into the account the stronger draft year and the higher pick

Monahan isn't an improvement over anyone in Winnipeg's top 9 and is only maybe if he plays his best a lateral move for someone on the 4th line.

He's simply not worth a high 2nd in any scenario to Winnipeg.

It depends on who drops to 10 but it would have to be a player management absolutely loved and could say no to

I get the breakdown and analysis but I just can't envision KH moving on from Barron and Mesar after the year they've both had and the improvements they've made.

Zero interest in or need for Monahan and that’s too much for him anyway

I don't know enough about Mesar to say no, but I suspect Calgary will rise in the draft order once they sell off their UFAs.

If Calgary's pick is 10th, I wonder if it makes sense to return the Monahan pick in a trade for 10th?
It would most likely be Florida's 2025 1st (I think) but would eliminate the potential of it being a top 10 pick in 2025 or up to 1st overall in 2026.
So say about 20th overall in 2025 for 10th overall in 2024, plus the difference.

Not completely sure how that would look, but might be a better alternative for both teams if Calgary doesn't have any preferred target in that range.

There's also the possibility they receive an additional first this year at the deadline, and Montreal can accept that pick (likely 16-32), which was the expected outcome of the original trade (with Calgary's pick being 20-32 Montreal would have had the option to take it).

So instead of waiting for Florida's pick (probably 16-32) next year, we can try to upgrade to 10th this year or trade for another pick in the 16-32 range.

Similar point totals to Andrew Copp but a 2nd rounder is too much. I already knew you had no clue about the sport but this is yet another example of it

Monahan plays first line minutes in Montreal and on PP1 where all but 8 of his points have come from. guys that are awful at 5 on 5 play don't have much value. I know you like to bang the homer drum, but Copp is better than Monahan 5 on 5, far better defensively, can skate, isn't slow and is physical. So, there all tangible things that can be evaluated.

So, now post something objective that isn't tainted by your red goggles to demonstrate how Monahan matches up against Copp.

Sir Monahan is on the 3rd line. Started with Pearson and Gallagher and currently plays with Roy and Armia

He plays over 18 minutes a game, first line minutes, and is outscored even strength by players playing 15 minutes or less per game.

If Monahan is 3C in Montreal, then how are your trying to pass him off as a 2C to much better teams?
