Bogdan is gonna be great... If he makes.the NHL. High risk, high reward. Too much upside to trade in this package.

Small moves? Is that what they need?

None of these players or moves come close to helping BUF in any way.

Its nice to have tons of cap space, its great to have a plethora of shiney prospects (who cant even play in the NHL because theres no icetime available), but where is the actual fixes/repairs, where is the desperation to actually become a good team or at least finish in the top half of the eastern conference?

Agreed, to a degree. Management really liked the kid prior to drafting him and still really like him. Krebs is a decent return for him but I also have some reservations on making this deal.

I don't get it, yes Bogdan is playing well in the KHL, but he is a 5'11 dman, nothing special here
We have Jordan Harris who is good at 5'11 and everyone is trading him (myself included because I agree he is the odd-man out on the left side)
What I don't understand is why you are septical to trade a former 4th round pick (overager) for a former 1st round pick playing Center and established in the NHL ...
I get it that Bogdan looks great in the KHL, but Krebs is already a proven bottom six NHLer

It is kind of a lateral move that will not impact Montreal in a huge way for the long term whether they make the trade or not. Krebs would hopefully slot in behind Suzuki, Dach and Beck (better than Evans???) whereas Konyushkov is hopefully good on the right side, but hopefully the current options of Barron, Reinbacher and Mailloux slot ahead of him in the future too, So the issue seems to be trading a potential bottom pair defenceman for a 4th line center. I would not spend a huge amount of time worrying about either role, as I believe they can both be filled by other players too.

MTL could use Krebs on the 3LW next year, with down the middle : Suzuki Dach Dvorak Evans. But Dvorak is injured prone, so Krebs could slot in when he is out (even Newhook can play C). I would rather have Krebs-Beck or Beck-Krebs as bottom six Center in two years than Beck-Evans. Let's say Beck isn't ready for 3C duties in 2025-2026, at least you would have Krebs to play 3C while Beck plays 4C
But like you said, lateral move

Fair points CBA. I think for me the issue is that Bogdan (can't spell his last name and copy paste too hard) has KHL numbers that are elite. He's the most talented offensive defenseman Canadiens prospect not named Hutson, and he has a chance to be more effective at the NHL level than Hutson (Hutson has not played in a men's league yet, so we don't know).

After Hutson shows us he can deliver, I would consider moving Bogdan, but I must admit I can see a world where it's ok if Hutson fails and Bogdan makes it.

He is a very different player than Harris.

We just haven't fully established who the "odd-man out" is on the right side just yet so trading one for a bottom 6C lock-up is a lateral move (as you stated in a later comment). Not that I'm against the idea of the move but just not yet. I know we have some great options for RD now but if we end up with 3 top 4 RHD options and a couple bottom pair RHD options, it would make more sense to trade a better RHD option away for a better return (not that Krebs isn't a good return as it is).

We also have a very awful track record of trading defense for forwards and eating the worst of the transaction so some of my reservation could be PTSD related...

Habs also have Kapanen, Kidney, Heineman, Tuch, F Xhekaj, Gignac, Roy who all project as bottom 6 talent who can play a mix of LW or Center. I think the only trades the team should consider are for upgrades at the top 6 forward position with a focus on scoring.

Personally, I think we are far too soft, and if we are going to run out a bunch of offensive players, we probably should have a few guys that can play defense (including a center in the middle 6). I don't think adams would agree with me, he hasn't done much to address those concerns.

Oliver Kapanen, big fan of him, but he is years away before getting a shot in the NHL
Riley Kidney, I'm probably one who is the lowest on him, I said when he was playing in junior his game won't translate into the pros and he's not been good (as expected). He ain't bottom six material either. Still very young, he will develop in Laval but he's got to improve defensively and be more physical
Luke Tuch, liked him in camp, but I only sees him as a Pezzetta replacement, I don't think he could bring any offense in the NHL. Could be a good 4th liner tho down the line
F.Xhekaj ... give him 3-4 years to see if there's anything there. Again, only 4th line potential without offense
Gignac ... Career AHLer, there's planty of those guys
Roy is the only candidate in your list who could be a good 3rd line winger, and he isn't ready yet. He will need at least another season in the AHL, maybe more

You are definitely too high on every Habs prospects, a lot won't make it

Not expecting all of them to make it, just 1 or 2. There aren't that many open spots!

Gignac is showing me something in the AHL. He seems like he found a gear no one thought he had. I would sign him to an ELC if I was Hughes.

It's not an ELC lol you can just sign him 1 year league minimum
