I don’t think this works for either side, and I say this as the idiot who posted a Zegras for CBJ’s first last night.

I agree the value swings too heavily in Ana's favor, however, is there a way to make it work by upgrading the pick to ANA 24 2nd?

I know Laine is capable of a lot, but he's got a big number for someone who's a frequent flier on IR.

Is Laine a fit for Anaheim, though? Doesn’t seem like a Verbeek player for one, and I feel like Anaheim needs solid depth more than a Laine.

I'd be curious to see what other CBJ fans think, but honestly...I'd take that, if Anaheim offers that.

We'd be getting a similar scorer with a much better contract, better age (although that's marginal), and slightly better metrics. Also wouldn't be shocked if Zegras' long-term health is better, and he fits the rest of the core slightly better.

Maybe Anaheim makes the 3rd a 2nd, but I like the idea for a reset/hockey trade.

Reverse obi wan kenobi “zegras is not the player you are looking for”

He’s good but holy god we are gonna suck and give up a first in the top 5 for him.

Remove the first and maybe. Definitely not worth a potentially top 5 pick

I'm fine with the pick alone for Zegras plus. But not if Laine's involved.

Zegras is too similar to Kent imo. If we are trading a top 5 pick I’d like to get either a really good top 6 center back who fits the timeline or a young top 4 RD to go with jiricek. I’m a bit concerned with the size of the roster/prospects and would rather not add zegras

Zegras and Noah Warren is a pretty compelling offer, as Warren is enormous, an excellent skater, and right-handed (and he's a defensive D so could be an excellent partner for Mateychuk). I agree KJ and Zegras are pretty similar, but I think they both bring something to the table that's interesting enough to have them both. Z's a little more north-south, KJ's a little more of a float-and-pounce.

I'm just not in love with any of the prospects this coming draft. Celebrini would be great, but I don't see any chance of a lottery win (and if you believe more in single-digit chances than I do, you lottery protect the pick top-two). Zegras at 22 is more likely to have any impact on the team than any draft pick, especially considering the rest of the roster.

I think Lindstrom could be great if they don’t get cellibrini. A future center core of fantilli, lindstrom, sillinger, Voronkov would be very solid. Then you have gaudreau? KJ, marchenko, brindley, chinakhov, etc to chose from for wingers. Werenski, jiricek, mateychuk, severson, svozil, ceulamens are your defensive core. I’m just hesitant to add zegras because he’s on a larger contract and if he pans out will need another big contract in 2 years when all the other young players are getting paydays. Laine would for sure have to be moved and gaudreau too (not that it would be the worst thing in the world).
