Description
It’s actually funny. The bottom of the barrel insiders who need to funnel clicks and interactions to make money are the ones claiming Zegras is available. Might actually make you think why their the only ones claiming that based on nothing but the Drysdale trade.

Verbeek said the reason for the Drysdale-Cutter trade was to goal scoring to the system/team. Why would a team that struggles to score trade away one of its more prominent scoring threats? And why would they do it at his lowest value?

Just because the Sucks added a forward doesn’t mean any of the other young forwards need to be moved. The ducks were gonna trade a significant D men no matter what for scoring help. They just did it sooner than most expected.

The Zegras “rumors” sound like gossip to me.

*Also this is a TDL guess.

I can't believe you're making me defend the Islanders but

The writing on the wall with Zegras has been there since the summer, when they tried to lowball him with an insulting offer and then didn't sign him until the last minute. No one wanted to hear me then, and some don't want to hear me now, but the Cutter Gauthier trade just makes it more obvious that Zegras isn't an important part of the Ducks' future plans.

It could be as simple as they just want to go younger, if they think a contention window is further down the line. Out goes 22yo Drysdale, in comes 19yo Gauthier. If nearly 23yo Zegras gets traded, expect them to bring in a high-end prospect 20 or younger and some picks. Anaheim was screwed out of Connor Bedard just like they were screwed out of Crosby. Now they are still actively tanking and hopefully can get Celebrini. Which would just further decrease the need for Zegras.

Pat Verbeek didn’t draft Zegras. Negociation have been though. Maybe Zegras doesn’t fit the new regime. Anaheim won’t gave him away but if they get what they are looking for they will listen for sure.

You keep claiming that the Gauthier trade makes Zegras irrelevant to the Ducks, so clearly you know something I don't about who the Ducks long term top 6 are.

So please name them.

He didn’t get lowballed. He wanted a short term deal so he could get the massive deal when the cap went up much like Matthews is doing to double dip.

It doesn’t make sense. Ducks need scoring so they trade their most prominent scoring threat?

Most prominent scoring threat?! He has all of 7 points this year, pretty sure the Ducks most prominent scoring threat is McTavish with 27 points

Leo Carlsson, Troy Terry, Mason McTavish, Cutter Gauthier, (one of Celebrini, Eiserman, or Lindstrom), and the 2025 1st rounder.

And that's assuming that the Ducks don't continue to tank in 2026 and draft top 5 AGAIN, and assuming that they don't make other trades that allow them to obtain multiple 1sts or 2nds from other teams and happen to strike gold on one or two more players.

The 5.75m isn't a lowball offer. I'm talking about what the Ducks were reportedly offering him earlier, which was in the 2-3m range, and was insulting to Zegras

We have no 1RD in the system and it's a RD heavy draft, we'll use that pick on a defenseman this year, if not we'll use the 25 pick on one.

Since that was 4 names and two draft picks, one of which is earmarked for a RHD, Zegras will fit into our top 6 just fine long term.

Ok. We'll revisit this in a year when he's no longer an Anaheim Duck.

They lowballed him with an insulting offer over the summer.... waited until the last minute to sign him.... brought in a younger and higher pedigree centre.... and traded away his best friend.

I'm sure he's happy being a Duck right now and all of that clearly indicates how much the team values him

He's a professional athlete, friends get traded, it's part of the reality of their lives.

Whether Zegras gets traded or not, stating he doesn't have a spot in Anaheim is asinine. He's not going to get sold off for parts, if he moves it will be another blockbuster deal.

This is how the “rumor” started. Bunch of guessing about things that Seravelli has no idea about and providing a clickbait headline to get interactions.

That’s not smoke. That’s trying to connect dots that aren’t even on the page.
