Leafs will surely be considering Tanev. As well as Hanifin. As well as Weegar (if they move him).

But the Leafs are not paying that much for Tanev.

You know it wouldn't cost much to dump Sammy for the rest of the year right? TOPS it would cost a 3rd. But in a big trade, at the deadline, guys like that are usually just throws in to make the cap work.

Leafs also don't even need to move Sammy if all we do is get Tanev at 50% retention.
