Not really. We currently have two centers producing at a similar level (that isn’t a criticism FYI). The Flames can trade him anywhere they want. How many teams are in a cap position to sign him to a 9m AAV over 8 year deal into his mid thirties? My assumption is it only takes one, but the population isn’t that big. Calgary can expect a rental rate until someone steps up.

I’d rather wait for free agency or when we have cap room to make a trade personally even without Poitras involved.
