Jackets definitely won’t be making this trade. Need quality over quantity. Don’t think the jackets are interested in Kuz at all but the deal would be something like Kuz and a first for laine

I mean that would be a sizable overpayment especially with how average Laine has been… “quality over quantity” made me laugh. We are trading for Laine not Johnson.

I don't take exception with the Laine part. I take it with the Chinny part. He's finally healthy showing steps forward and has found a home on a line with Voronkov and Marchy/Silly. No way they move him now. To much upside and future in him. Coach even said he's one of the Young Core he wants to build around.

I mean Kuznetsov is an old center that is terrible at defense, faceoffs, and has a terrible attitude. Basically every problem jackets fans have with laine kuz is worse in those areas. I would rather just keep laine. At least he’s younger and has one of the best shots in the league and is the much better player when healthy

Seems like an overpayment to Ottawa

And yet, I really doubt Ottawa would do it

Edmundson is cooked, he's a pure dump

Brannstrom >>> Edmundson

They just can't afford to go for a massive downgrade on defense even if they'd get that 2nd round pick

That said, I think it would have been possible if Dorion was still there as him and DJ don't understand modern hockey. Dorion PAID to get Josh Brown and Erik Gudbranson...

Ottawa accepts.

Edmundson can't skate nor defend. He's worse than Hamonic... He's in the Klingberg, Josh Brown, Xhekaj, DeAngelo, Zaitsev defensive territory...

1. Ottawa gains cap space by trading Brannstrom for Edmundson.

2. Ottawa secures my asking price of a 2nd round pick for Brannstrom.

3. 6 foot 5 Edmundson would be a much better fit with Coach DJ than 5 foot 10 Brannstrom.

4. Edmundson was traded for value last Summer, so it's basically a 2nd + a 3rd + a 7th in value for Brannstrom.

5. A defensive 3rd pairing of Edmundson/Hamonic might involve grit, blocking shots, and killing penalties and might be something worth watching popcorn

1. 250 000$...

2. Yeah but the downgrade offsets that 2nd

3. A pylon would be great then. You don't remember the Gudbranson and Josh Brown days?

4. What a stupid trade from the Caps

5. ... and always been stuck in the defensive zone (not even exaggerating), which accentuates the risk of injuries and goals against
