Description
Obviously with their cap problems it’d be near impossible to get a true 1C, the true team need. But bargain bin hunting for some depth scoring punch to bolster the top nine would be a good consolation. Poitras’ been poor on the face off dot, I’d like to see him play wing for the playoff push (where he has played in junior as well and was good) and develop his strength over the offseason to help improve his face off ability.

Other options I’d consider (I think only 1 trade this year)
Anthony Duclair (poor production this year but a proven offensive talent on a bad team, could be a good option especially if the Bruins brass are dead set on Poitras playing C)

IF they can find a way to make cap space, Elias Lindholm would be insane

Why would Boston do that?

Monahan is a decent option to bring in, but his history needs to be considered and he’s a rental.

Hes probably worth a 3rd and your choice of Patrick Brown or Oskar Steen.

Most of his production is on the powerplay and he likely isn’t good enough to be on the first powerplay for a contender

Useful player just like Beauvier and Zadarov,

First, he played most of the season with Pearson, Gallagher, Armia and Anderson. I expect him to not have a lot of points at 5v5.

Then, worse forward got way more at the deadline (Copp and Bertuzzi)

Finally, you are asking for THE HABS to trade him TO BOSTON. That cost a lot

Copp and Bertuzzi had better track records. Monahan looks like he’s found a role. If you think you are getting a 1 this year, you are in for a rude surprise. Hes a useful player making a low AAV this year. I wouldn’t trust him.

You should keep him unless someone pays a reasonable amount.

Copp never had more than 40 pts and only 2 50 pts pace season before getting traded. Bertuzzi had 1 season above 50 pts and 2 other on pace for 50 pts. Monahan has 5 season above 50 pts and 2 with a 50 pts pace. He definitely got a better track record.

your production the year you were traded are whats important, not what the players did 5 years ago.

Well, here is the pts the year they were traded :
Copp : 35 in 56 (51 pts pace)
Bertuzzi : 14 in 29 (39 pts pace)
O’Reilly : 19 in 40 (39 pts pace)
Monahan, despite a 10 game slump : 13 in 23 (46 pts pace)

If you take into consideration the market we are currently in (Monahan is currently the second or third best C available) it’s pretty safe to say a Copp return is far from unrealistic

Copp and Bertuzzi weren’t traded with a first round pick to get off their contracts and didn’t have to sign a 1 year, $1.9m contract because of injury considerations.

Maybe I’m being too flippant with the third and a good prospect as being value, but I certainly hope my team doesn’t trade a first or an A prospect for him.

Do you think Montreal is going to sign him to a long term contract? Great story , but do you want a long term contract next to Monahan’s name? You should if you view him as having that type of value .

Hes a great rental for a team with the discipline to not sign him long term. He’d be great on short term prove it contracts at a little higher dollar figure than a long term one. That probably does warrant a second round pick.

Your own placement of him in the lineup should tell ypu how stupid your assertions are.

2nd lince centre rentals (which YOU put him as) are easy 1st + trades
