2 more years does not equal 5 more years
One guy has term, one guy has long term.

I personally wouldn’t want Kadri if I’m the Jackets

Jackets have no interest in Kadri for that contract term. There is a different center on your team we would be interested in though.

We'll just keep Laine, thanks. Three less years. Immediately clicked with Fantilli on a personal level. His brain is still scrambled from that dirty hit by Andersson, so there's no reason to panic or move him now.

As an Avs fan, I always thought CGY was a bad fit for Naz. CBJ would be much better for both sides. EL ain't no spring chicken either; I think, even if he considers CBJ, spending more & commiting longer than Naz is questionable. Plus Naz is more versatile & should age well with his deal in a higher cap world.

I wouldn't mind Kadri honestly, but only if he comes at a much cheaper price. CBJ shouldn't be selling low on Laine, but I do think they should move on from him next summer. I've seen enough in his 3 years in Columbus to know that he just isn't a player we need. Immensely talented, but he just doesn't have the competitive drive or physical nature needed to win.

Our wings are soft. Thankfully, Voronkov showed up in a big way to help with that, but I think Laine needs to go as well. If he rebounds this season and gets back to decent form, he should be able to garner a 1st + from some team at or near the draft.

I agree that panic selling is a bad idea, but I don't think his play has anything to do with concussion symptoms. He's always been a sloppy puck handler and shown limited effort. He has good bursts, like the effort he put into the goal against MTL, but otherwise he loses a board battle and pouts for a second before slowly getting going again. He just doesn't have any killer instinct aside from when it's time to shoot the puck, and he even seems to be missing his confidence in that regard right now too.

It doesn't help that the Jackets seem loath to put him in a position to succeed, too.

Why would getting a perfect fit player be a horrible move for CBJ? Worried about the last couple years of Naz's deal? Cap is going up. Naz brings more than points to the table. If Laine isn't scoring he's worthless. Naz way cheaper over next six yrs & coming off 82G season. Naz 0.69 PPG while Laine 0.80 PPG. Naz plays w a chip on his shoulder, perfect for a franchise w a chip on its shoulder. Worried about a dropoff?
As an Avs fan, I noticed he really refrained from harmful physicality the last season: hitting & fighting. He'll still get his nose dirty & rise to the occasion, but I do think his contract will age just fine. CBJ would essentially be trading PLD for Naz. Very comparable

i got no skin with either team, but i cant fathom CBUS wanting to take that deal till he is 38, they have lots of young talent why saddle a anchor deal on a team rebuilding. you think his contract will age fine? really in his prime he was solid 40-60 pt what do you think a physical player brings throughout their 30s.

If I was CBUS no way would want this proposal.

Absolutely. The coaching hasn't been as bad as it was under Larsen, but there are still plenty of questionable decisions being made. Now they have him playing high on the right side of the PP, where he still stands around and has no shot opportunities. I don't understand why it's so hard to do what has proven to work in the past and just stick with it. Park him on the left dot and tell him to one time it every time he gets a puck in position to do so.

I thought Recchi would fix the PP but I guess not, lol
