I don't think they'd take that. They don't need retention on Rico if they're moving Laine, so the retentions no added value to them. Probably have to give them Vatrano and another promising prospect too. This offer is lower than PLD got.

That said, the thought of Leo being able to set up Laine, holy heck.

Exactly, more about seeing the lines than exact trade value

Retained Rico here though so they could retain again and send him for more futures if they needed/wanted

I’m actually real happy with the lineup here honestly

This doesn’t do it for Columbus. Laine still has value and had 4 years on his deal. He’ll always be a potential 40 goal scorer with his shot and the they know that if he plays with a good enough centre that he’ll hit that and likely won’t sell low on him.

I don’t think Kekalainen has that much leash to make a move as big as moving Laine. He’s been there far too long and they haven’t achieved anything or progressed. It would depend on how a new GM views Laine if he stays or moves

Laines value is hard to gauge but it’s a lot more than this. Jackets will want futures or young players/prospects in a laine trade

Wow an aging 3C, A bottom 6 winger and a 2nd for Laine, yeah that offer gets beaten by a country mile.

Cannot imagine there is a huge market for Laine right now. If they were forced to move him for some reason, it’s probably not far off. But Columbus can wait and let him recover.

he's missed time with injuries the last couple years (none of them recurring soft-tissue ones, luckily) but has also been basically a point per game player in that time (108 points in 111 games). people on this board treating him like he's a pure cap dump after a slow 9-game start on a team that can't generate any offense.

anyway, if the ducks want him, it's zegras one for one. nothing else makes sense for columbus.

He's also coming off a massive concussion, and it's not his first. There is no reason to trade him at the absolute nadir of both his value and career just because.

That said, your last sentence is absurd.

my point is that unless there's a 1-for-1 trade that better fits the jackets needs, it makes more sense for them to keep him.

laine has struggled on a bad team since coming back from injury, so everyone runs to hfboards and capfriendly with lowball offers. zegras struggled just as bad on a good team after having contract drama. just saying that by the same logic that ducks fans are using to say laine should be available, zegras would be the most fitting piece to send back in return.

no, no. you don’t understand. all columbus players are hot garbage that should be available for pennies and cap dumps. Other teams’ players are valuable.
