Why?

I would love this trade but I think it would take more to get Murphy.

There are 4 defenceman I would like Van to go after. I hope they land 1 of them

Connor Murphy, Chris Tanev, Brett Pesce or Colton Parayko or Tyan Pulock

We would need to add more for Murphy (Klimovich, Garland and a 2nd plus McWard)

Nah, Murphy is worth more as a stable top 4 RD than what we are getting back with garland and a mid pick. Don’t know about the prospect, but If he was good you wouldn’t have included him here.

I suspect that all 7 Canadian teams are on Murphy's 10 team NTC, but this return is underwhelming at best.

If you change the prospect to a RHD like Brzustewicz you probably have a deal. Hawks don't need any more LHD in the pipeline.

Hawks decline. They value Murphy more than this.

A middle pair RHD doesn't get traded for a middle 6 winger that makes MORE money for scraps which is exactly what a prospect that would not make the Hawks top 25 prospects and a 3rd round pick to a team that hold 7 better picks than that 3rd is to the Hawks..
