It’s an interesting scenario.
Severson got a 3rd…but dmen have longer shelf life (and Sevo really wanted the 8th year). So hard to use as comp.
I think the last time a top winger saw his rights traded was Scott Hartnell, who was shipped from Nashville to Philly with a dman for a 1st (but it was, in a way, the completion of the Forsberg trade…and was probably in a grey area of the rules at the time). But could maybe build a comp around that one.
Maybe they could get a rental replacement. Depends which team.
