There's No Need to Draft When We Can Just Buy and According to this Site, The Leafs Have The Best Prospects in the League Apparently

How about this for a Rebuild and Stocking the Cupboards Full of 1sts and Prospects!?

Defence will need some work, but when Mantha comes off the books, that'll free up $5.7mil to pursue one via Free Agency or Trade for one in the off-season

The Alternative would be to Trade Hanifin with no retention to PIT for Ryan Graves + a Pick/Prospect

Obviously this thread isn't terribly realistic or serious, but if everybody feels the Flames need a shake-up, re-set or rebuild and to accumulate Picks & Futures, well here you go!

For anybody wanting to say I'm $1.5mil over the Cap without looking, that's easily resolved by sending down 2 Forwards, since I have 15 on the Roster at the moment

Okay, blast away with your "Knies is the next SuperStar, he would cost at least (3x) 1st Round Picks, if not more", and "Blah, Blah, Blah, etc., etc., etc."

Knies would instantly become the best player in Calgary lol.

Just this season where he's been on the 3rd/4th line most of the year with just 2 games in the top 6 he'd already be your 2nd highest scorer.

LOL, honestly there isn't much in there coming from Toronto other than Knies and Liljegren neither of which is going to be half the player Leafs fans like to fantasize about them being.

I'd put Knies floor as a good bottom 6 player with a good chance of soon developing into a middle 6 player who can play up and down the lineup without looking out of place.
Lilly's floor is an average 6th/7th D on a team with a good defensive corp who's ceiling is no more than a good 5th/6th D on the same kind of team.

How is Lilly better than my ceiling? Filling in on the 2nd pair for the Leafs because Toronto doesn't have anything better doesn't make him 2nd pair on a team with a "good defensive corp". On a team with a good defensive corp he's maybe the 6th but more likely the 7th defenseman.

Minten and Niemala aren't players anyone is going to target. They'll do as minor throw in pieces but they won't be important pieces in any trade. So don't worry you can keep them, nobody is very interested in them anyhow. The same goes for Cowan.

Not too bright are you? You're cherry picking a rookie's stats over a small sample size and comparing to an older overpaid and hugely underperforming forward why not compare Knies PPG to another rookie's PPG like say Connor Zary?

Oh right you'd lose that small sample size comparison. That's why not.

BTW, don't forget who signed Huberdeau to that contract. He's your GM now and just barely gotten started wrecking the Leafs!

Way too much for Washington to give up to only get Lindholm in return. Washington already has their top 6 centers set with Strome and Kuznetsov, so the urgency to acquire someone like Lindholm isn't there. Any residual interest goes away when the package would include two of Washington's best prospects, two good young roster players, and a 1st. Dubois didn't get that much, surely Lindholm won't.

Knies will be 70-100pt power forward at his peak.

He will be similar to Marner, defensively responsible but unable to carry his own line. He's already a top 30 forechecker/puck retriever in the Hyman type role. He will likely be the best player in the league at that role in a few years.

So anyone saying he will be like the next massive star is way off. He will be a complimentary guy on the 1st line but a very rare type of player which will make him very valuable.

Calen Addison will be a solid player. Wild are downgrading him to get a different feel to their group.

Just because the Toronto Sports Network says something is so doesn't make it true. And yes everyone outside the GTA knows perfectly well the T in TSN really stands for Toronto.

You probably believe them when they say Matthews is defensively responsible and the Leafs have a good defensive core too.
