I like liljegren but there's not enough for the hawks to unload Murphy and take on jarnkrok. You'll say jarnkrok isn't a cap dump but the last thing the hawks need is more bottom 6 forwards.

Murphy is almost 10 years older than Lily. Murphy’s value will go down each year he ages. Lily is a good fit for a rebuilding Chicago team. Not asking for retention

The hawks taking on jarnkrok is the same as asking for retention. Murphy's only 30. His value shouldn't go down in the next 3 years. His next contract will be the buyer beware contract.

Im sure you can flip Jarnkrok for a draft pick of some sort at TDL if you have no use for him

Murphy immediately becomes Torontos best defensive defenseman. The package going to Chicago isn't what they need.

Chicago has 13 picks in the top 2 rounds over the next three drafts, a 3rd round pick doesn't really move the needle.

Sure Jarnkrok/Lil-J would play, But Chicago is trying to figure out what their own prospects can do in the NHL, Jarnkrok/ Liljegren get in the way of developing those guys.

Keep in mind, no one elected me the speaker of all Hawks fans. I don’t think the intent is to jump on anyone. It’s the share our opinion on the proposed trade.
When the Hawks decide it’s time to trade Murphy, it will probably be for picks &/or prospects. Not a “hockey trade” as you proposed.
The “flip player X” response is what everyone typically uses when their proposal is not received positively. It’s easy to say, a lot harder to make happen. Especially in a cap crunch year like this one.

Came to say this too. I though @SociallyHawkward did a pretty good job of calmly articulating their position, and I definitely wouldn't describe that as "jumping on them." If you take offense to someone explaining an opposing position to yours, it's probably a "you" problem.

It was just a joke, hence the LOL. Leafs fans are just as bad, well almost. But if the Hawks move Murphy probably to a contender at TDL, they will have to take salary back as most teams are at or close to the cap ceiling. 👍

Oh, ok. My bad. But, yeah, I fully expect CHI to be taking on more salary over the next couple years, regardless of a Murphy trade. They have the space and there is plenty of time to kill during this rebuild where they will need to get creative getting to the floor. I still don't expect them to be taking on cap for nothing and as "just part of a transaction", though. Nothing obligates them to do so. But cap dumps can definitely be a good way to fill cap space while leaving roster space for young players with low AAV's.

A lot of people are bad with that, though. I admit I'm even guilty of it. I try not to let people get under my skin on here, but sometimes I just go off. haha
