Man.... On one hand, that'd be a heck of a deal for a player of Huberdeau's caliber. On the other hand, he will be !!!37!!! when that $10.5M contract expires, and I doubt that contract ages very well. If it were like 2M cheaper, it might be a whole lot more palatable. Also, KD is not trying to win or steal any games right now. Whether Luke Richardson likes it or not, our pipeline is still lacking severely and we still need high picks.

Hawks decline. That's a bargain deal for a player like Huberdeau. But there's still 7 years left and the contract is buyout proof. So much like the Jones contract, Hawks will be stuck with it. Having $20m tied up in Jones and Hubbie won't be good when guys like Bedard, Korchinski, Moore, Nazar and others need their second contracts.

The first trade is a hard no from Calgary. The 2nd and 3rd might be enough to get talks started but the other teams would have to add to get Calgary to do them. The Columbus trade would be close maybe even enough but the only way it happens is if Calgary can't extend Lindholm.

What if we make it Jones for Huberdeau?

No chance the Hawks touch that deal, Huburdeau has been awful since going to Calgary, I can only imagine how he looks playing with less talent in Chicago. I don’t think it’s a stretch to say that unless things turn around dramatically Huburdeau’s contract very quickly may be considered one the worst in the NHL.

How about instead of the Boston trade you switch it too…

Trading Jones away without a RD coming back to Hawks doesn't work. Hawks literally have no one to step in and play top 4 minutes for them on the right side. So Jones for Hubbie or Markstrom would mean the Hawks need to then turn around and spend assets to acquire a RD to replace Jones.

Ha. Pass on Boqy for obvious reasons. How he was ever an 8th overall pick is beyond me. I'd be ok with Peeke ro the Hawks if they moved Jones. In all honesty, what do you think he would cost?

I can't imagine more than a third. I'm guessing he and/or Boqvist haven't moved yet because Columbus literally can't take on bodies at the NHL or AHL level. They're loaning AHL players to various ECHL teams just to get them games and at one point had eight healthy scratches.

Sorry, but I don't like that deal one bit for the Hawks. That does nothing to address their real needs beyond this season. And why does Calgary do it? Then they have Hubbie and Jones for the next 7 years.
