How much of an upgrade is keumper over Campbell? Certainly not a first round pick worth let alone 2 and broberg

I actually might do this deal from Edmonton's perspective, even if their fans might underrate the gap between Kuemper and Campbell. There should be a team willing to do that deal for Jensen. The Pinto deal is probably good value wise, I'm just not sure Ottawa feels particularly enticed by it.

Overall, though, on the highly reasonable end of posting here

The only reason his numbers aren't elite is because the caps defense as a whole is very weak. No physicality. I don't expect other fans to watch all the caps games but I wanna say he looks really good in net despite the rough defense.

I think giving up Jensen and taking on a 3.25m x 2 contract of a bottom 6 forward would warrant the first; at the very least a couple of second rounders. Agreed on Pinto - Ottawa isn't rebuilding so it depends on what they want to do with Pinto. They have expressed an interest in holding onto him, but he's a 2C stuck in a 3C role because Ottawa's center core is elite. If they can afford him, I'd understand them not wanting to move him. Appreciate the constructive feedback.

I'd argue Pinto could be fourth at this stage, because Greig has had a really hot start. I just feel like Ottawa would only trade Pinto for a slam dunk until it becomes obvious how exactly the forward core is going to shake out. Maybe in the summer if Greig keeps it up, they'd consider this. Because the value isn't really the issue.

Kuemper's best numbers in the league was when he played with the Kings, we know how good he is. But he also is 33 with three more seasons after this one and currently has a 0.887 SV%. If you paid 3 1st round pick type assets, you'd not want to pay so much to just go from one problem in net to another.

It’s costs all of that just to dump Campbell EDM would be lucky to get this back

I agree, I wouldn't be super upset if you took out Broberg or changed one of the firsts to a second and maybe took the retention off Dowd. That way it's not such a huge price to pay for the bit of uncertainty there is.

That would be fair, but if Kuemper is below .900 at goal, no doubt Holland gets fired. He's already in trouble from the Campbell contract so he can make no more mistakes at goal.

Edmonton needs to pay like 2-3 1st round assets and drop Campbells contract and just sell whatever they can and get Hart. This is their win now window, unfortunately I feel that Keumper is in a very similar place as John Gibson, these are borderline elite goalies whose contracts have enough risk that they hurt their selling value.

Can't see Edmonton doing that after Cambell has yet to play even 40 total regular season games for the team. Maybe at the end of the season if Campbell is atrocious again this season.

Also if Edmonton is giving up 2 first rounders and broberg, then you can bet they'd want cap relief, adding Kuemper doesn't do that

That's a lot for Edmonton to give up just to lose in the second round again

if they do something similar to the first three deals, the "soft reset" is 1000% over, no need to then flip those assets into Pinto, as much as I like the player

I don't know, value isn't bad but if it comes to this (trading Pinto) I'd rather see a prospect + pick

Some other fans made better offers

It seems like the value is there but the Sens probably want something with a more immediate impact.

Yes but keumper isn’t much better if at all than Campbell and has a bigger contract. More likely to be a hockey trade than this

Yeah but they can't even afford immediate impact as there is no cap space and the only 2 waivers exempt players are Sanderson and Greig... so unless they move someone, they already have their roster for this season
