Thornton would be the only one I would consider at that level, petey is a selke candidate 100+ point player. Thornton is up there but he didn’t have the defensive acumen and his trade was the classic fumbling of the bag

Thornton was traded before he won the Hart, Petey had one less PK goal than he did PP goals, he is going to be in the running for Selke and Hart this year. Thornton would be a comperable but that was boston fumbling having one of the best players in the league. Its a bold statement, and I think that if I were to change it I would say one of the best players since gretz but its not out of the question that he could be the guy. Especially if he gets traded at the end of the year, it could be a bigger deal

Oh yeah, the PK goals. I'm not particularly moved considering that PK was the worst in hockey defensively, and Pettersson on the PP let just as many shorties go the other way.

I don't want to go into the math for how every team ranks including shorties, but +48 on 273 PPs (17.6%) and -54 on 243 PK attempts 77.8% doesn't scream impressive to me.
