Ylonen has very little trade value. Struble doesn't have a ton either.

Rangers easily pass.

A few days ago I proposed. 2025 1st (top 10 protected) worse of the 2 picks, 2nd round in 2024, Ylonen and Jake Evans for Laffy.

it got mixed reviews. Helps with the Rangers forward depth and gives them 2 picks.

The package I listed was quite a bit more than you offered here.

Another package I saw was Barron, Ylonen, 1st (2025) and 3rd.

All to say your package is light.

thanks for your feedback, i just added a first. i does seem like a lot to me though... do other fanbase agree that two okay pieces + a first + a second is good value?

Laffy has a lot of mixed reviews. He was a 1st overall pick, has performed well for a 20 year old. But has not performed well for a 1st overall pick.

My assumption is that his value starts at what Newhook got (late first and early 2nd but that was on the draft floor) and add from there. hence why I think my proposal is fair. Evans and Ylonen don't have a ton of value but do have some. That 2024 2nd will more than likely be later. That 2025 1st will probably be a bit earlier.

The whole Laf thing, let's be honest, is tricky.
He's such in a pivotal year.
He has the exact same trajectory - freakishly similar - as Yakupov.
He could also start to breakout this season, exactly like Kakko did last season.

So it looks like we will see, this season, WHO Laf is exactly.

Hence, his value is very much in flux at this precise time.

My opinion.

NOTE: shout out to TMLBRIAN. Leafs fan, who also comments on Habs threads, but always respectfully, no bitterness, and fairness. I always strive to do the same. And I appreciate when dialogue is courteous.

I assume he would want a Centre prospect or a young LD prospect.

I assume he would want Kidney or Beck. Curious to see what he says though.

Probably waiver exempt defense or winger that looks promising

No use for center. Mika, trocheck and chytil are locked up for 4+ years

I see another Drouin in the making. All kinds of promise and potential, but ultimately a disappointment that we gave up too much for.
At least Drouin was acquired in an attempt to fill a need (however ill advised). We don't really need a middle 6 winger at all, especially not immediately.
Wait another year or two for the price to come down or our own prospects to rise. Don't pay full price for a depreciating asset.

I would like to just clarify something because I see the comparisons to laf and Yakupov and I cant help but compare numbers. Now take with a small grain of salt as Yakupov did play in a lesser goal scoring time.
BUT
Lets just use D+3 which is last year for Laf

D+3 81gp 14G + 19A = 33P at ES ( 9g + 14a = 23p) in 15:27/g
D+3 81gp 16G + 23A = 39P at ES ( 13g+22A = 35P) in 15:13 /g

Laffy in less ice time, put up significantly more points at ES. It is harder to produce at ES than the PP.
Yakupov wasn't an NHL player, Laf is absolutely currently a middle 6 guy. Now does he ever reach 100 points? I doubt it, but could he put up 75? With actual powerplay time and 1st line minutes? Probably.
