What has Murphy done? He's the best defensive defenceman on one of the worst defensive teams in the league. If he was good, that wouldn't be the case. McCabe was better than him last year and Mccabe was terrible in the playoffs. Schenn looked good in the playoffs because Rielly was next level. He was fine and had a really good stretch but Rielly was the reason. This is the type of thinking that is the worst on here. Small sample sizes get blown out of proportion and as usual the actual good players on the leafs aren't given credit for their own play, some scrub who played on the team for a minute is the reason.

I'm not going to hate on Brodie. He gets torn down too much in here. Sure he had a bad playoff, but its not his play as to why he's being delt here. It's his cap hit.

Hawks decline pretty easily. 3 years of retention will cost a lot. It's why McCabe cost a 1st, 2nd and prospect. Plus people forget the Hawks already needed to provide LD ice time to other prospects.
Hawks don't have those prospects on the right side. But need veteran leadership on the right...so from their perspective it would likely cost more than McCabe. He was more expendable than Murph is.

First off they can't afford Nylander, not even this season 😁
Secondly, Kuzmenko had 39 goals and 74 points his first(!) NHL season.
So no, a bad trade for the Canucks imo, Kuzmenko costs less for one more year aswell.

Sometimes the big picture is more important. Imo this is a better overall team. I would look at someone else than Tatar, not a playoff performer.

I like this overall team except the Tatar add, he isn't a playoff performer. Jarnkrok is fine on the 3rd line RW. 4th line Lafferty-?-Reaves, Holmberg or Gambrell at center. Your issue overall is Nylander or Brodie will not be waiving for non-playoff teams.

Not a fan of TML or VC, being offered a player that has a proven track record (Nylander) for someone with 1 good year compounded with the history that players often regresses in year 2 … well if VC was offered this deal they would be nuts to not accept it. Toronto will be able to get more for Nylander, not saying he is worth more but some team would offer more for him because of his track record.
