Just do what I do. Make a reasonable trade or at least attempt to. AND THEN ignore the Philly fans who want 47 1st round picks for Laughton.

I suspect Calgary says no to that trade also. Leafs would need to add a 3rd at minimum and there would have to be no retention from Calgary.

Although if Calgary starts selling their UFAS, I don't think they should target more pending UFAS.

This is all entirely fanciful, to put it very politely. A deferred late 1st, essentially zero value Robertson and a 3rd gets beaten to a pulp by half the league.

There is no reasonable trade for a Philly fan. It has to be a completely devastating win for them to deem fair.

Can't we just do Fraser, a 1st, and a 2nd or 3rd? Robertson is never healthy so his trade value is near nothing.

Hanifin's contract is up next year, also the reason Philly fans want a lot for Konecny is that he really doesn't have to be traded at this point, he's got 3 years left at 5.5, and Briere has said it'd take a lot for them to consider trading him, 2 late firsts and prospect is good in my eyes

Calgary can't make that trade with their current cap situation. If Calgary SELLS their pending UFA's for picks and prospects, they will retain because that means they aren't competing this year.

IF they make this trade for Nylander, it implies they are going for it, since he is also a pending UFA. In that situation they will want as much cap space as possible and therefore will not be retaining.

I don’t think that’s something you can be entirely certain of though. I personally still think Robertson will become a solid top 9 scoring winger - potentially even a 30 goal scorer. He’s superbly talented and, even in the short sample of his NHL career, has shown flashes of that talent. I can’t help but think the Leafs value him a lot internally, and there’s no reason to believe other teams don’t, too.

Injuries are also a complicated topic. A lot of Robertson’s injuries have come from bad-luck, and does not indicate a given future outcome of his health. Because of that, I don’t put too much weight on his injuries.

I think I'd be more comfortable with a Robertson trade after he gets enough showcase time without injuries.

You mean Flyers retain on Konecny, or Nylander passes through Philadelphia on the way to Calgary and they retain on him so Calgary can afford him? The latter makes more sense to me. Konecny has 2 years left on his contract, and most teams don't like to retain salary for more than one year on a guy who isn't overpaid.
