Why though? DeMelo is 30 and expiring and the current coach has it out for Ehlers. And to be completely honest, the current core is nowhere close to a cup. Add Scheif and Helle leaving on top of it, a rebuild/retool is imminent.

This is basically a first and a bunch of guys that most Sabres fans don't want- for Ehlers and demelo to add right d depth. The Jets should be able to get more for what would be two playoff runs to the right team.

I think the op is weak, and the Krebs plus Benson/savoie is bananas the other way. I would offer mittelstadt and either Rosen or a protected first. If that's not to their liking, like you say, wait for free agency.
