Pinto won’t get that much back. Even then unless Sens are buying Rossi for super low, which I doubt Minnesota will give him up for , it’s too risky

PO Joseph is probably better than Brannstrom alone.

Also, I doubt Minnesota does that.

    Sokolov ?

    I think he would even take 1 x 800K.

Pinto isn’t worth Rossi and a 1st. Maybe one or the other.

Why do say Pinto and Sokolov are stubborn? Maybe it's the Sens. The players are free agents and can sign with any team they want. Admitting being RFAs, it's unlikely they sign with anywhere but the Sens.
The players can sign or not sign...play or not play. It's their choice.

September has rolled around and they are still holding out.

And Ottawa needs cap relief with 5 weeks left to go.

    Something's gotta give.

I mean I like Pinto, he gonna be good but a 1st and Rossi seems asinine to me. He aint there yet. Maybe after this year when he scores 25-30 but not yet.

The only thought I had with Branstrom is that there is a lot of untapped potential that playing along Letang and Karlsson he might be able to develop, however that said same could be said for POJ.

No. Pinto is not a holdout. He is not withdrawing his services. He doesn't have a signed contract (with any team). Yes something has to give. But geez, fans shouldn't blame the player for not having a contract signed. Let's say Pinto is being unreasonable in his contract requests, that doesn't make him a hold out. He has that right to sign or not sign any contract.

And what exactly has Rossi done in the NHL so far to be worth Pinto + a 1st ??

    I'm genuinely curious.

Minnesota can’t give you cap relief. If they are acquiring Pinto, there will be salary going back to match the cap space needed to sign Pinto.

    I'm just a tad impatient.

If Pinto and/or Sokolov are signed, we would be able to map out what to do next.

For Sokolov they should give him 1 yr at league minimum. He'd accept. It wouldn't hinder a trade option and doesn't matter to our the cap if he clears waivers.
For Pinto it's more complicated. If they can only offer $2M or less it's a 1 yr deal. Anything over $2M and they might be able to get 2 or 3 yrs.
Who knows, maybe they're waiting to see if someone gets injured at camp and they can avoid trading anyone...?
