Take some time a look into h.r.r and play with a 25-26 mock draft. Im busy atm but i believe a 50/50 split next season will be 92.5m, the following season will be close to or above 95m. It will definetly come at the expense of Girard and or Manson, but that has to be expect by now.
Edit: The Avs have decent depth options in house and I trust the pro scouting dept to fill in depth guys at a reasonable aav
I'm always a little leery of trying to predict the cap and I don't know if the Bally Sports implosion with affect HRR. They absolutely should move Manson no matter what; homie was amazing in that Cup run but he's always injured and far less integral than Girard. They never should have given him his current deal but now they'll have to shed it which, honestly, shouldn't be too hard given that his actual salary is pretty low the next two seasons. They may not get much back except the cap space but that's okay. I'm not big on trading Girard but, if they can get Toews at a reasonable rate, it could be worth it although I'm very concerned that he is going to decline shortly after his next deal starts. Re-signing him would be an all-in move and mean the window is the next 3-5 years rather than 5-8 years. I guess I'm just not as sold on Toews being a "must sign" as some people are.
I'm less than optimistic they're going to be looking at internal options; they just don't try to get guys to the NHL. I do think, if they put their minds to it and made it a priority, they could get all of JLF, OO, Ritchie and Gulyayev to the NHL over the next four years but they seem like they just don't care enough to do that. Would be cool if they did, though.
If Landy can't come back, they should allot that money to replacing him on the roster, not to Toews; they're going to need a legit top-six wing and it will likely cost every penny of $7M.
