All UFAs Walk and No Trades
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Anus_McLeod</b></div><div>If the back end is thin (which I agree with), then how do you move Girard? Outside of getting an even more cost controlled young D who can play 20 min, that doesn't make sense to me. I could see replacing Manson easier than Girard, but that's tough too. I think they leave the D alone, aside from probably looking for a cheap UFA who wants to chase a Cup.
Colton is the only guy they can move to save money (imo), but I'm not sure that they will. Seems unlike them to move a guy so quickly after signing him.</div></div>
well i mean i think you have to basically trade for retained players if you want more depth, hanifin and tanev are making less than 1.3 mil on their current teams. We also gotta hope that another guy who wants to win a cup who will play for cheap on the back end, i've had brodie in a couple of mine but i honestly don't watch toronto at all to know how much he will ask for.

be a shame to let trenin and duhaime go they round out the bottom nice with their physicality. I think you've got to move one of colton or girard regardless at this point though. The back end is very thin if there's one injury and i donno if ritchie will be ready for 3C duty in a hopefully deep playoff run

I think broissot or however you spell winnipegs current back. If they do move geo i thik he could be a solid backup looking for a starter position that can also give a good chunk of the work to annuen

Making $7mil in Cap room- AND- filling the holes it would create- bc you’d have to make MULTIPLE TRADES to get the Cap space, would not be easy at all
U guys would be screwed & be paying a third of your lineup the league minimum</div></div>
buddy if landy comes back you don't sign drouin and move one of lehky manson or girard. thats 8 mil and you go with only 2 healthy scratches. I guess you make 2 trades since you'd bring in a d man retained at the deadline around 2 mil. looks pretty simple

obviously it wouldn't work with this one, this is literally built around him not being here. If he comes back you basically make another trade and then they're fine

I'd like a little more, but in a cap crunch scenario before his no trade clause kicks in, not the worst to get what we paid for him.

If Landy doesnt come back
you forgot the 4 mil that comes with the cap increase. I think we'd be downgrading in skill by moving colton for trenin at 3C as well. I'm starting to like trenins physicality but he's never got more than 25 points in a season. I think we'd need a bit more consistent scoring if we're moving colton for a new 3C.

Seeing how it looks if Mitts and Drouin sign legit deals
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Xqb15a</b></div><div>Yeah I agree wholeheartedly, his overall game has definitely improved, but I think it’s legit to ask can he produce away from MacK because MacK can make a lot of guys look good. Maybe he’s willing to take some sort of discount to stay knowing what it’s like playing without him.</div></div>
agreed. Ideally he takes 3x5 or something to stay around here for the winning window and have peace of mind that he isn't going anywhere for the next while. If we could lock up a first line player for 3 mil that would go a long way.

its real tough to say for drouin. the guys playing real good with mack but if he's not with mack is he worth 4.5? i think the ceiling we'd pay him is 4 and i don't see too many other teams offering him more than that.

Yeah i agree with above, we might even be able to get drouin for a little under 4 since a lot of his resugence is from mack playing crazy. Also if we're going with annunen for back up this year odds are he will be back up next year as well. and considering woody has 5 more years left we're probily stuck with him, he's been fine for his price tag really, as long as he brings his physicality in playoffs i'd keep him.

persoanlly i think they move colton for a 2nd over moving lehky. just given the market 3C should be easier to fill than what lehky brings as a swiss army knife.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Anus_McLeod</b></div><div>Steamed anus, mmmm.
I still think the third pairing is too inexperienced. At least bring JJ back.</div></div>
I was playing around with the idea of us bringing in brodie for 3rd pairing if JJ is done. Obviously with landy coming back that makes it much harder to do but maybe he takes a deal to win a cup being 34 next season. He's eating 20 mins a night and can play both sides. He won't have to eat that much here but i think he's capable to step up on either side when we get injuries and has the experience to play on malinskis left side.

Personally i think walkers 4.5 mil could be better spent on two 2 mil d men or a 3 mil guy and another JJ type at basically league min and then we could scratch jones and keep LOC as well

has the potential to be a great signing. We'll see how he does in playoffs this year but anytime you can get a solid backup for under a mil is a good signing.

Serious rebuild
Walker is playing real good right now but i think we're a bit blinded by his .5 goals per game. He's not worth 5 mil. him and malinski will basically be the same player in another year. Makes no sense to make a big downgrade in what manson brings to get more of the same in what walker will bring. i hope he keeps bumping up his play to make a huge pay day in free agency but we didn't really pay much for him when you factor in the johansen contract, which should tell you that you can find average puck movers easier than the grit and grind type players who are playing top 4 minutes.

honestly i think trenin will be a rental. Doesn't change much and just gives us basically a couple mil to make an addition at the deadline, but i think it's a solid group.

Avs Offseason No Landeskog
way too much money being spent on a 4th line here. we have 4, 1 mil and under contracts on the offense right now and you have 0, so right there it's not sustainable plus 0 money for any scratches for injury. Plus moving manson is a mistake in my opinion, he brings a lot more to this team than points and he will make his presence known even more in playoffs when physicality picks up even more.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Bradshaw97</b></div><div>I like all these numbers, I was putting together a 24-25 team and had all these numbers, I like the idea of Manson being traded out to keep a younger walker, although I think Avs would need to get a Manson type replacement at a cheaper rate, Brendan Dillon/ dumba, zadorov, edmundson, kulikov, hakanpaa, whoever is left and would be willing to take a cheap 1 year contract</div></div>
I'd argure you might be able to replace manson with dillon but he's also older and slower so i don't think it owuld make sense, plus he's not coming any cheaper than 3 mil at a minimum. No point in any of the others, just downgrading from manson when we can get another puck mover at the deadline like walker again.

i'd way rather keep woody than trenin right now or Drouin for that matter if landy is infact coming back. Plus i personally feel like we need manson on the back end, we have 0 grit if he's not back there.

I'd like to have barron back, they can't fit evans under contract though. Sakic drafted barron and mack liked him. We don't have much in the system with his size so to have him come into the rotation next season could help with that.
