I love Quinn but Devils decline on the poor value offered alone but they don't even have the cap for this move to begin with.
Quinn might be a Devil in 4 years by way of free agency, but not via trade.

Quinn isn't moving to Jersey after living nearly a decade I'm Vancouver. Talk about a lifestyle downgrade.

We love Quinn, but no need for him on roster. Siegenthaler is one of best defensive players and Nemec will be future stud. Quinn can come to NJ when his UFA arrives. Until then, we have to hope we will see all three brothers for USA squad.

The Devils shouldn't target another high-priced D. It isn't always about having the best players...you need solid good depth too. It is hoped that Luke grows into the role that Quinn has now. Nemec will make the RHD side great with such a mix of talents with Hamilton and Marino. Siegs is a top shutdown guy. A diverse, cheaper D is better than all in on Quinn.

Tell me you've never been to NJ without telling me. Rich suburbs of NYC are some of the nicest places in the US.

This would be such a bad move for the Devils.

I disagree on Newark but I'm from NYC so Newark doesn't really faze me. Most of the team lives in Hoboken/Jersey City which are really crazy nice, especially for someone in their 20s.

I went to Newark last week. It was dirty, looked poor. Homeless all over the place. Maybe I was just in a bad spot. But when the bad spot is on main street, it doesn’t sound good for the rest

Thing is, Newark is hardly representative of NJ. But it isn't like the players spend their time outside the arena....they all live in Hoboken or the rich suburbs.

Saw Bo Horvat's house in kits. It was modest to say the least. You get much more bang for your buck elsewhere. There was an article last season about Kraken players complaining about real estate prices in Seattle. Even a multimillionaire from the NHL doesnt enjoy raising a family on the West Coast that is when it's not burning to the ground from forest fires and the impending earthquake!

For it to make any sense to NJD it would have to be built around Dougie Hamilton as the centerpiece similar to Huberdeau in the tkachuk trade.

Said it once and I’ll say it again, no Quinn Hughes to NJ trade will leave both teams happy.

So make a proposal that would make sense for both sides then. That was the whole point of this exercise. Not actually happening but IF it did, what would be a fair trade for Quinn that would work for the Canucks.????

Quinn for Nemec, one for one.
But even then I’d be super disappointed in the Devils if they went through with such a trade.

I wouldn’t say 1 for 1 is a fair trade value wise. You’re hoping Nemec turns into a player as good as Hughes, while Hughes is already a top 5-10 dman and only 23

Would you say someone like Cooley for Jack Hughes 1 for 1 is fair? That’s a similar comparison to Nemec for Quinn 1 for 1 imo. A great, A level prospect, but you’re hoping they turn into the player you’re giving up, who’s extremely young, a proven star, and a franchise building block

Missing the point of where the respective are in regards to contending for a cup.
The Devils are contending right now and probably will be for the next ten years, whereas for the Canucks it’s very doubtful they’ll ever contend with their current core and a very good argument could’ve been made for them blowing it up earlier in the season (and if Yotes are offering Cooley for Quinn the Canucks would be fools not to take that).

You also seem to be missing the point that there’s no hockey trade involving Quinn that makes sense for the Devils, therefore it’d have to be a futures laden one.
Anyway, OP asked me a question (a bad one) and got his answer. I’m sorry it’s not what you and OP wanted to hear but if traded Quinn is very unlikely to return a package more valuable than Nemec is by himself.

OP asked for a deal that makes sense for both teams. A 1 for 1 deal where the Canucks give up Hughes for a player that they would hope becomes as good as Hughes is right now doesn’t exactly make sense. If it’s a futures laden return then Nemec would be a great start to a package, but it would take more than just him

Although at the end of the day it doesn’t really matter since Vancouver and NJ aren’t good trading partners and both fanbases are sick of Quinn to NJ trades, as it’s not gonna happen anyways

If the Hughes brothers REALLY want to play together then Jack and Luke can sign in Vancouver as free agents to be Quinn’s assistant captains /s

That's not how surplus values work. Nemec has 3 years of ELC+his RFA control which you are hoping provides more surplus value than quinn does at 7.8 mill over 8 years.
