What’s the point of getting 5th round picks back for Foligno or Perry… let them play out the season if they aren’t asking for a trade or worth something the hawks can’t refuse at the deadline.

Donato should be worth more than a 5th, if he is a trade candidate… hawks have a lot of cap coming off next season and you do need people to play for the team so him having term likely makes him more valuable to us then any other team.

If Murphy can get you a first with minimal difficulty, (not giving up a 2nd) then it might be worth it to trade him. If you have to finagle a cap dump and lose a guy like Murphy to upgrade like 20 spots in the draft then it’s not worth it. As the trade stands I say hawks reject.

Generally I feel like the part of the rebuild where you HAVE to trade everyone for any future asset is over. The hawks have tons of second round picks over the coming years, and additional 1sts for the next two years. That’s not to say we shouldn’t try an accumulate additional assets but we don’t need to force it.

If the Leafs can afford Brodie till February, there is no need to trade him for cap reasons at TDL. Doubt if Chicago would be on Brodie's trade list.
Gee, if Murphy is even 6, that's a good deal for the Leafs for the final two years of Murphy's contract

I guess it's possible Foligno and Donato get moved at the deadline. You have the Hawks retaining in all 3 trades when they only have 2 retention slots available, so that's a problem. Can't see the Hawks making that deal with the Leafs. Even with no retention on Murphy, trading him for a one round move up in the draft is a terrible return. With retention, it's even worse. Hawks value Murphy way more than this. No chance they make this deal.

Looking at the roster, there isn't many players you can essentially "trade" and I think Murphy is just one of if not the best option right now if you want a better asset return than food scraps (5th, 7th ect), there was already rumors of Brodie leaving Toronto and Murphy going to Toronto so I think it works fine. You're not just "Moving up 20 spots", you're getting future draft capital (Which Davidson has put a huge emphasis on) and giving up one of your surplus seconds this year in order to do it. It's basically swapping D-Men and gaining a future asset at the cost of a second you're likely going to move at some point that season anyways.

I like Perry and Foligno a lot, they just both look like very flippable contracts(Because of term) and i seriously DOUBT davidson doesn't flip one of the two at the deadline, I initially did Perry but looking back at it the RW depth he provides is great and I think he'll be more important to us next year than Foligno who doesn't really have a solid roster spot on the team after this year.

Same thing with Donato, just looks like a very flippable contract and although i can see him with us for the 2 years, the market will be definently there for a depth, all positions forward like him.

I don't think you have to "Force" trades but when making this I didn't like the thought of such a boring deadline, I feel like making a bigger trade would be more interesting and shake things up.

I think the Hawks get short change in all of these proposals and reject all.

OTT would take this deal, and would still agree to it if the ask was a 4th. I'd prefer a player that PKs, hits and blocks shots BUT Donato at $1M and only giving up a 4th... yep.

you've clearly overestimated Murphy's abilities
