Description
Slafkovsky starting in Laval will probably upset some people but I think it will help his development. If he starts there and is lighting it up, he'll get called up either way
Trading Jake Allen for a 3rd should be possible. Allen is still a serviceable starter and with Casey DeSmith coming in, You could ride Montembeault and DeSmith this year.

Also leaving some cap space IF Price comes back (doubt he does but you never know)

Also including a blockbuster type deal at the deadline for Spencer Knight. It might take a little bit more to pry him away, but I think I set some decent ground work. Petry and Desmith, along with Calgary's 1st which could be a lower pick next year. This is more of a wish list/long shot item, and would depend on if Florida is in the race for a playoff spot.
Transactions

MTL
  1. Choix de 3e ronde en 2024 (OTT)
CHI
  1. Allen, Jake
Détails additionnels:
Chicago has some decent goalie prospects and have Mrazek on the roster, but this could be a good way to move out some cap
2.
FLA
  1. DeSmith, Casey
  2. Petry, Jeff (2 000 000 $ retained)
  3. Choix de 1e ronde en 2025 (CGY)
Détails additionnels:
Wish List item, Figure trading Petry at the deadline seems likely. I think Kent Hughes can pry Knight away if Florida is out of the picture.
If Florida is in it and Knight is healthy, He isn't going anywhere obviously.

If Florida is in it, figure this: Petry For the 3rd in 2025 seems reasonable

You did a great job of explaining why the Hawks decline.

If Petry brings back a 1st I would be ecstatic lol. I don't expect a 1st back for him. Maybe with the salary retained/price of Petry its possible. Trying to be more conservative with this approach lol

I feel like Allen could be a decent fit there. More of a cap dump than anything, but also accounting for Mrazek getting hurt like he does almost every year lol

I agree. Absolute robbery. I think teams learned from that lol. Should've never gotten a 1st for him.

So "more of a cap dump than anything" but Hawks give up a pick? The team dumping the player adds assets to make the deal happen. Hawks obviously decline.

Ok but "cap dump" means you don't get anything back for him, you understand that right? It's right in the name "cap dump".

Usually you use the "additional details" to explain why it's a good trade not why it's a bad trade that doesn't benefit the opposing team in any way. You'd have to pay the hawks a 2nd to dump Allen on them

LOL, ya that’s an easy no for the Hawks.

Habs get to move out cap space and a 3rd round pick, Hawks get a goalie they don’t need… sounds fair. You should at least send a jar of Vaseline to the Hawks.

As you can tell, we like to travel in packs lol. The other guys covered a bit so I'll keep it goalie exclusive.

Mrazek and Soderblom are the tandem heading into the season for better or worse. Kyle Davidson has already said this is the plan. Is Allen better? Yeah probably but that would mean burying someone (Soderblom?) in Rockford taking playing time from Stauber and Comesso. When Mrazek goes down (and he will) Stauber becomes the #2 unless he plays better than Soderblom. The Hawks will add a depth goalie for Rockford (Dylan Wells maybe) before adding an NHL goalie.

his points and his analytics stats are all good he plays Rd and in the top four and he is going to cost only 2.3 million... A first round pick will be easy rest assured..... Just likely hughes will wait till the deadline and then teams can save even more money.

I know eh.. and petry is a much better player and he is still producing points and hits and block shots and good analytic numbers as well.... so at 2.3 million hughes will get a first round in return....This is the man who traded the untradeable hoffman and retained no money... you got to believe...lol
