Both sides are going to hate this so good trade
Not a fan of either team, but I see where you are going with this lol. It doesn't make sense except for nostalgia purposes. Kaprizov is an un-touchable for MIN I'm sure too. Value is close

I would say Sorokin's value is probably 3 1sts, which I'd throw another 1st rounder in there in '25 if that is what it would take

And MTL is certainly not interested in retaining on him for 4 years.
Honestly, I'd rather have him at 5.5M than play against him for 2.75M</div></div>
Anderson's contract would have to be moved to fit the Sorokin deal. Thats why I moved him out. I see what your saying tho

Most of these trades are if we were to get Sorokin, at that point the value we get back is probably not much. Ive seen Habs fans say we could get a 1st for Allen which I think is crazy lol

I think the Value is there, but I agree. I doubt the Islanders would actually do it. What else would need to be added to make it worth it you think?
They are getting a young top 4 Defensemen, a young goalie prospect whos been great so far, a 1st rounder, a 3rd rounder and a flyer on RHP as a middle 6, bottom 6 guy. Plus the team gets younger. They are going to have to do something with how old the team is, and the bad contracts.

I would probably do this as a Habs fan, even though I'd like to hold Barron at higher value. Nice Job

Habs Get the Goalie Isles Rebuild
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>EQuinn31</b></div><div>For Context:
Isles are in a crap Cap state. Sorokin is their best player for sure, but they are going full rebuild.
Habs get the goalie they need in Sorokin, they give up Fowler (best goalie prospect), Justin Barron, RHP and 2 picks to help the Isles reset their team over the next few years. Coyotes take on half of Josh Andersons contract</div></div>
This would also allow for a Montembeault/Primeau/Allen Trade to Edmonton for maybe a 2nd and a player. Habs defense looks like this in 2 years anyway:
Hutson/Reinbacher
Guhle/Mallioux
Xhekaj/Kovacevic
or some combo of those guys. Barron is expendable

Habs fan here: I doubt Suzuki is traded. Given that, I doubt Montreal would give up all of those assets for Beau (who hasn't panned out) ,Meyers whos maybe a bottom pair guy with our roster. Pettersson I understand you need value back for him but Montreal declines this. Solely on the fact that Suzuki is our Captain and 1C right now.
Looking at the Devils deal: That's intriguing. All 3 Hughes brothers together would be something. I don't know if NJ gives up that much for him but the idea behind the trade is entertaining to think about!

The "oh he is french so the habs definitely want him". Is lazy and not rooted in facts.
If you go back and look at trades where the habs netted more francophones than they gave up and you have literally 1 NHL example in almost 20 years (drouin) and a coupke minor league deals.
Its not something they do in fact they have actually largely avoided it over the years</div></div>
I would be interested in Laffy it didn't cost an arm and a leg to get him. He is young, and we've seen the effect MSL has on players. Hoping Newhook pans out like Dach has so far.

Today, is Laffy a better player than Dach? Then you're adding a 1st and a 2nd.
That being said, I believe Laffy has the higher ceiling. He's still 21 and should improve.
Rangers should keep him.</div></div>
Agreed. Rangers shouldn't be shopping him. Let him develop. I said the same thing about Slafkovsky, start him in Laval and let him develop. He's 19 lol. Don't need Galchenyuk pt 2

Laf hasn't shown any of that yet. He's poor defensively and his offensive impact is anemic, and his skating hasn't improved enough since he was drafted.</div></div>
Right there with you on that. Dach > Laf by a mile. I just wanted to show what the Habs would have to give up to get him, and it isn't worth it at this stage.

It will have to be something like Guhle/Dach. You are correct but i doubt much more is added as the Rangers want immediate cheap help and the Habs arent giving up valuable futures.
There is no trade fit here.
And, that doesnt even mention all the pressure Laffy faces in Montreal.</div></div>
I agree 100%. I think its way too much, but that is what they would have to give up to acquire him. Not Anderson, Beck and a 3rd lol (like i've seen)

Yeah I anticipated Dach moving to the Wing for this one lol. Everyone thinks Laf is worth nothing at this stage, which his value is down sure but he still has time to develop. Hes been in a crap situation the last 2 years imo

As a Habs fan, the Laf trade is nice lol. NYR fans aren't going to give up Laf for less than at least 1 proven player and Montreal's pick. They value him too much, plus he could turn things around under a new coach.
I don't see Petry in Dallas. I see him here for at least 1 season, even tho I did hear the report a/b Dallas having interest.
