I don't really see why Montreal or Chicago would consider this.
Montreal wanted Hoffman gone because they had too many forwards, now they're adding salary for a foward they don't have a roster spot for? For a 2nd and a 3rd? Petry may be in decline, but he's still a big right shot D with a half p/gp, averages over 22 minutes a night, and has significant playoff experience. If he's offered at an AAV of under 2.5 mil and an even lower real salary, he'll have more value than a cap dump with term and a late 2nd and 3rd. Montreal's better off keeping him if that's the best offer on the table with retention.
Suter has a 35+ contract, a full NMC and more salary on his contract than cap hit. Assuming he'd waive to go to Chicago (and why would he?), Chicago would REALLY have to like Stranges to consider that.
