Doesn't work for Washington and the Pens trade doesn't work for the Leafs

The Pens have stated they are in win now to maximize the remaining years of 87, 71, and 58. This accomplishes the opposite of that by giving away they're best scoring forward not named Crosby or Malkin. Therefore Pens say no.

I think the pens would say no, not that it isn’t good value but I think they want to add impact players with Crosby/Malkin/Letang at the end of their careers. Moving Guentzel makes them worse and while the futures are nice, I think they’d rather just keep him.

It's funny how Caps fans make Wilson out to be this huge difference maker for them. Since he signed his current contract, the caps haven't won anything. You guys love to throw out that if he played in TO he would automatically be a 30 goal 60 point player, which has not ever done. And one guy today said he's apparently carrying Ovie and Kuz and that's why he hasn't done so.

Wilson is not worth Nylander, and never will be. You don't trade a player that makes everyone around him better for a guy that needs better players to make him special. On his own Wilson is just a big hitting machine. In the bottom 6 he's a 30 point player. If he finds chemistry in a top 6, he may score 50 points. But that's entirely due to the better players he's playing with.

The Pens say no to that trade only bc of them trying to win with Crosby... I also think that the Leafs should do Nylander for Gentzel+ instead of you're hell bent on getting Guentzel

I suppose they could if they knew they were significantly out of the playoff race and he wasn’t re signing. But if they are slightly out at the deadline they will load up and not sell.

Pretty funny how Leafs fans can say anything about players being huge difference makers. Since any of them signed their contracts they haven't won ANYTHING. Obviously Nylander is the better player but the difference between him and Wilson isn't a 1st. Especially when he wants 9.5 mil and everyone knows TO's cap situation. How much PK time does Nylander have? How many times has Nylander completely altered another team's roster? (cough Rangers). Wilson brings a lot more to the game then just points and hitting, which is the reason everyday Leafs fans propose the same trade. Yes Wilson would obsoletely be a 60 pt player on TO and Nylander probably wouldn't be a 90 pt player on any team but TO or like the Oilers.

I hoping for this response. Of all fan bases in the league you think the caps would be the most likely to know patience is important. How long did it take Washington to something in the ovechkin era? 10 years. The leafs core is still building towards something special. Hopefully they won't be a 1 and done core though.
