Would definitely move Malatesta above Peddle. Malatesta's projection as a bottom 6 energy winger is getting more and more realistic.

Would also move McKown ahead of Pyythia and both of them ahead of Angle. McKown showed some real potential at the end of last year and Angle hasn't shown a whole lot for a soon to be 23 year old.

break out the checkbook because hes going to be expensive. Not saying his Jr numbers aren't a bit inflated due to playing with some Connor kid but in his VERY limited sample size in the NHL and AHL he looked solid with a very nice offensive distributing touch. Add in his world jr and Worlds performances i would have to put the starting price at a 1st plus some lovin. He's another one of those late round guys Jarmo and staff seam to be really good at finding.

Heh. You are not getting a 1st+ for him, nor should you. He hasn't skyrocketed his value that much. Plus, you guys are quite stocked in defense moving forward, so I'm not even sure how much PT they think he can get eventually. Werenski and Mateychuk would presumably be the top two LDs. Sooo... gonna need to reel that one in a bit, I think.

It's the classic scenario where a team would have to overpay in order to pry a player away that a team has no desire to move currently. Might one of them end up playing 3rd pairing eventually? Maybe. Could also be that Mateychuk doesn't pan out and Svozil ends up being the better 2LD for the team. Maybe two years from now Zach Werenski has had some kind of career altering injury or is dealt in a massive trade and the Jackets need both Mateychuk and Svozil for the top 4 LD. Bottom line is it's gonna cost a heavy price in order to take Svozil now before the future starts to clear up.

For what it's worth though, I doubt the Jackets would trade him for picks if he were to be traded. Either a prospect at another position of need or moving him as part of a package for a top player at a position of need would make way more sense for where they are hoping to be in the near future.

I get not wanting to move him and all that. But he ain't accrued value of a 1st+ yet, man. And I say that as a fan of the guy.

He's still a future, the kind of asset you flip in lieu of a high pick in a larger deal. You don't move him for a pick himself.

If I was GM and someone called asking it's where I would start at. I love picks but as Dangle said once they are magic beans. We are starting to get an idea of what he can be so like DK said its going to have to be an over pay to pry him away. Plus in recent years A and B level prospects have had major value, this might change with the cap over the next few years but those ELC and low dollar high value contracts are gold right now.

Again, I never said anything about moving him for a pick. In fact, I kinda assumed they'd want a roster player of some sort or a prospect of a different position.

There you would be looking for a top end LW prospect. Unlike many in the fanbase i don't think were as thin in goal. Terry is going to get there and the new D system should help plus Ivanov should be landing next year and his numbers in the K,V and M have been really really good.

How do you figure Svozil should fetch a "top end" prospect? He's not a top end prospect.

And just FYI, the Jackets have none of the top 30 rated goalie prospects. Ivanov is suuuuuuper small, man. I would not get my hopes too terribly high for him.

He can get it because were not in a situation where we need to move him. He projects as a top4 D so i want top 6 lw in return. Also i wouldn't call Ivanov "small" per say. Latest i say was this summer in russia he was 181cm 77kg which in american is 5'11.5 170. Plus his movement more than makes up for his size. Watch his 5 K games from last year his movement laterally is so smooth and quick i love it.

Dude, I just lived in SPB for like six years, you don't need to tell me about any of their players. I've seen most of them play in person, if not multiple times. And yes, of course 5-11 and 170 is tiny for a goalie. TIIIIIIIINY. The only NHL goalie who even approaches being that small is Saros. Ivanov ain;t no Saros.

And saying he played five KHL games is entirely misleading. He made one start, and played a total of 40 minutes across the other four appearances. He played five periods in total, not 15.

Just to put a name to a price you might understand i would be looking for a bolduc level return to move him.

Thanks for the name, but that's nuts. Bolduc is higher rated by a decent margin. Neighbours would be the closer comp, and even that is generous.

We shall see. One can only play two LDs in a top 4, and I do not see the room for Svozil to crack that.

Jaro Halak is in the size range also. Raanta isnt much bigger either. Is he askerov size by no means but by the time he lands i think he might have a role to play in the CBJ future.

Ah yeah, forgot about Halak. He is still 20-25 pounds heavier than Ivanov, though. Any way you slice it, it's a major rarity to have such a small goalie in the NHL.

This is the beauty of not having to move him. We get to set the price and having to many solid young D is better than looking for them. So if you're calling my phone thats the name I am asking for maybe Stenberg plus a small kicker.

Give him 20 years and i think he can put on the 20-25 lbs lol. Is he the for sure next coming of Pat Roy nooooooo do i think hes movement speed and vision make him an interesting prospect that could be a hell of a russian tandem in cbus for the future? Now thats a question. Am i willing to bet my salery on it? нет

Heh. That's a great way to not have many trade partners return your calls. Saying he's not available is better than wildly overpricing a guy you're almost certainly not going to be able to fit in your top 4.

Give him 20 years??? Ehh... he'll be in a beer league by then, if not likely sooner. tears of joy And adding a bunch of weight for a goalie is not so simple as it seems. Changing their body type can change their movement, reflexes, etc.

If someone say ya gotta give me a price ya give them a price.

A. first its vodka league and B. adding 20 lbs over 20 years not so bad. I think he adds 10 in the next 3-5 just putting on Man body weight.
