This guy has to be the most consistent player in the history of the league. In his six seasons as an NHL regular, he's put up between 15 and 18 points every year.

This is reasonable.

This is what happens when you don't sign right away. No one can afford to pay you what you are worth, so you have to take less money just to get a job.

If he will have good season, he can sign better contract next year with cap rise (or it could be end in NHL)

Good signing for New Jersey. Proven quality fourth-liner at close to League minimum. Every team needs guys like this.

Its a bit odd but there could be a reason for it

As this could be insurance depending on the Hockey Canada investigation as McLeod was a member of that team and were supposed to hear a verdict in August or September unless Bettman goes snail mail again lul

But if nothing happens its a bit off as they already had Mcleod, Tierney, and Lazar

Either way nothing wrong with preparing for either possibility.

I really like what NJ has going on this year.

There are a lot of players in that situation. They will take league min, or a PTO, and hope they can hold on until next season when there will be a lot more money to throw around.
