Ottawa is not rated well because not of their groups are great (center, winger, defense, goalie)
How is Center and LHD not "great"?
C : Stutzle - Norris - Pinto - Kastelic (Greig and Ostapchuk are also centers)
LHD : Sanderson - Chabot - Chychrun - Brannstrom - Kleven
Goaltending could be great too, I wasn't very happy with Korpisalo signing at the beginning but he has only played 1 season since his hip surgery and he was good last year. So it has potential to pay. Forsberg is vastly underrated too
The weakness is RD with Zub, JBD and Hamonic, although they will have to play a LHD on the right (Chychrun?)
RW at the top is great with Giroux and Batherson but not much depht Joseph and McEwen. Plus Giroux is 35 y/o

Center is good up until Norris is unhealthy again. Pinto’s play needs to grow defensively a lot before that center group is good. LD is good but the defense overall isn’t great, which was my point. In fact the defense being top half of the league is dependent on chychrun’s health.
Well injuries could hurt any team. Norris injuries weren't related.
But if a Center gets hurt, there's going to be Ridly Greig who IMO is going to be quite better than Pinto (who isn't done progressing)

They’ve been “underrated “ and supposed to compete for a wild card spot for 2 years now. I think it’s getting closer to overrated than underrated based on their performance - they always start off slow and can’t make up ground.
Eugene Melnyk, Pierre Dorion, DJ Smith. Everyone already know Melnyk and should know how DJ Smith systems are bad at 2-way hockey but if you want I could gather a few of my past posts and explain you the mistakes Dorion has made (just the last 3 years, more would take too long) that negatively impacted this team to miss the playoffs

Garland also doesn’t make sense because it’s costing you Pinto. Not in terms of trade, but contract status. Pinto is likely getting more than the $2.5M you have here, and I’m not sure why Ottawa fans keep devaluing him just to try to fit him in the cap. If it was that low he’d likely be signed by now. Plus is Toronto buys out Murray that’s costing you another $1.3M on the cap.
Like explained in the other thread, Sens have 5M$, with this move they could afford to sign Pinto up to 3.0

The best comparison for Pinto is Kasperi Kapanen’s second contact, the one he signed with Toronto off he is ELC. Very similar production and very similar players at the time. Kapanen signed for 3.93% of the cap, so if that’s the number for Pinto then he’s signing a 2 or 3 year deal at $3,281,550M which you don’t have the cap for here, so it comes back to not making the deal for Garland.
Not a great comparison IMO, to start they don't even play the same position
Kapanen had 44 pts in 78 games, Pinto had 35 pts in 82 games playing with Batherson and DeBrincat (top liners), although Kapanen played with Matthews but also a declined Marleau and Andreas Johnsson
The deal with Garland won't happen anyway and Pinto bridge is most likely going to be 1 year.
